Warning: Spoilers
I'm an avid watcher of Mock the Week, mostly due to the fact that the comedians featured are some of my favourite and I have seen many of them live. They all tend to sing from the same hymm sheet and as a result their on screen chemistry is flawless.

However the BBC this season has decided to spice things up a bit by including a spanner in the works each episode. Someone who's job it is to constantly mention something to remind all viewers that the BBC doesn't give a damn about its viewers and just wants to collect gold stars .

Now before I go on I'd like to do the modern disclaimer that I support diversity and have no issue with anyone based on their sex or nationality.

So this episode featured a rather funny gay man who I've just added to my list of comedians to see live, it did grate a little that every single one of this jokes was about being gay I could see that getting old during a 2 hour live show.. But it was funny and after just watching a clip of his live show online I've been put at ease that he's exceptionally talented and isn't just a one trick comedian like so many others. Mock the Week has dozens of jokes editted out each week to fit the time slot and I'm sure the BBC just decided to stockpile up on gay jokes while they had the chance!

So then we have the fine lady who was on the show. At the beginning of the show I warmed to her, she seemed funny. That was until a trophy was handed to her saying that she was the 100th guest. And her response was to say that she was the 4th woman...pretty sure that's not true? Women feature regularly on Mock the Week and it always brings out the more risqué jokes that keep us watching. Then after a couple more mentions of the fact that she is indeed a woman, there came the quick fire round where she begun her flogging of the dead horse which then continued awkwardly until the end of the show.

Please don't invite someone with an agenda onto a light hearted and funny show. Whatever their background, whoever they are. If they're just going to ruin the experience then they can do one. I don't know who she is, or why she feels she can stand equal to these absolutely brilliant comedians, but she clearly isn't a comedian herself so I'm questioning her place on the show. If I ever care enough about her to learn her name I'll do some digging. In the mean time find a different woman next time you want a patronisingly tocken female, there are millions of more deserving candidates.

Bring on Dawn French and save us all.

As an end note the young man who sat next to her is bloody brilliant, a rising star?
