Dark topics and hearty laughs
mariellealien13 September 2018
Daniel Sloss easily jumps from topic to topic, effortlessly stitching the show together - going from jaw-dropping topics to heartfelt comments in the wink of an eye.

I hope there will be more!

DARK HUMOR & TOUCHY SUBJECTS
mistakenlymade113 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Daniel Sloss had done an excellent selling on DARK and JIGSAW, I favor DARK more then JIGSAW for personal reasoning. But none the less both show's are equally as good, the first one being a lot more offensive and talking a lot about death and his sister, I absolutely love dark humor and I always felt comedians and especially "Netflix comedians" were always holding back or not talking about serious topics in situations, obviously there are probably some comedian's who do bu t I haven't seen anyone like Daniel Sloss, his jokes have a good punchline, the subjects are touchy but a lot of it makes sense and he is a very smart man for his age, too smart if you asked me.

A fresh take on comedy
deadlynexos9 February 2019
I have watched all kind of comedy stand up and the genuine darkness of the topics was amazing. His jokes were so well written. I would rewatch this any day. It's like a beautiful jigsaw everything fits in to place. Please watch this with an open mind because even death can be funny so just laugh.

daniel sloss is a fricking legend
finnigts16 September 2018
I tend to not laugh at most of the netflix comedians and not because I find them offensive, because they are just making jokes you know.. It's dumb to get offended by jokes especially by dark humor. You may NOT laugh at dark humor, but like I said it is a joke after all. Daniel is a really funny guy and probably one of the best comedians so far. (on netflix.) I really don't understand anyone who's making negative comments about him and everyone who does it exactly like the guy he talked about in first part of Dark :D. So yes go ahead make negative comments about him but we aaallll know he's right and you're just butthurrt

A Legend in Comedy

Truly funny to the bone.

If you are sensitive, don't watch. If you love watching comedians do their craft, sit back and be impressed.

Amazing dark humour!

Warning: Spoilers
Kind of spoilers maybe for few, not sure.

Few topics he touches related to his sister does make you uncomfortable. But he delivers the content in an amazing way. Dark, intelligent, and meaty content.

Wow! Amazing comedy, smart and hilarious
irmaksakinci22 December 2019
I enjoyed it very much! It was really funny and emotional at the same time. Daniel Sloss is really talented, not only in comedy but also in understanding life, pain, relationships etc. I especially enjoyed 'Dark' and watched it so many times. His understanding of comedy is dark, that's for sure, but the way he forms his jokes makes him more relatable, i think. I recommend this to anyone who is not too sensitive. Thank you Daniel Sloss for making me laugh so much!!

Dark-ly Slow at first but takes of with Jigsaw!
karam_cristiano20 September 2018
Ok so am gonna split this review for each episode and then am gonna summarize at the end. DARK It starts off really well but kind of fades at the end with the whole "paralyzed sister's death bit". His intentions to show funny in tragedy was daring but he doesn't live up to the task as he fails to lift the mood for a long while towards the end. JIGSAW This was by far a more complete show. This episode is where Daniel delivers and lives up to the hype. the show is intelligently written and is genuinely funny.(not so much if you are Facebook vegan). There are serious rofl moments plus the creative message where he added his personal touch to the show.

so inconclusion I recommend powering through the first episode just to be able to watch the second one. I hope Daniel continues working on his material and develop a full comedian persona on stage because I believe he has potential to be one of the greats. PS: I rated a 7 because the first show dragged it down, the second episode deserves a much higher rating. (Seriously check it out even if you are vegan).

Smart Comedy
postalisches3 August 2022
The only reason someone does not like his style might be the lack of understanding his point. It is sort of socially crtitical and in a smart and intelligent way. I like his style as it makes you think and laugh. If you like Seinfeld for example, you dislike Daniel Sloss. Seinfeld is the kind of consevative comedy I totally get bored, because there is no courage to it. Where Jeselnik goes way too far, Sloss is spot on. I think one should be more into Monty Python than classical American comedy to get into his shows. This guy is really smart and I can totally live up his joie de vivre. Even if I did disagree on some points, I get it from his point of life experience. For example I really liked the twist when it comes to his ex wife and being a vegan. That was one of those clever things in the show but disgreed with his analogy in some point. This guy rocks and this is just my humble opinion, nothing else.

This guy rocks...

... although he is constantly factually incorrect. He really knows how to turn complex psychological insights into jokes. I think this is a rare talent. His problem is that he is a leftist, who wants to dance on the woke side of things. He goes over the edge on things that are safe, for that particular moment in time. He is a rare comedian, who can still, with all that echo chamber stuff, make good jokes. Most leftist comedians have zero jokes and 100% echo chamber repetitions, that serve only to make people on the far left, comfortable with their delusions.

Awful
pandora-3218212 October 2021
I barely cracked a smile through any of his routine. It started off decent in Dark but then got really boring and Jigsaw was more of a rambling lecture than a comedy act. I was waiting for it to get funny but it never did so switched off.

This made me yearn for work on Monday morning.
jonathansharp-912331 March 2020
FULL DISCLOSURE, I watched this show 'cos a girl I like recommended it and I thought it would be a good way of finding out what she deems to be 'dark' comedy. It is a testament to how much I like this girl that I sat through 15 mins before shouting "nope, can't do it" and decided to waste no more of my Sunday. There aren't words in any of the romance languages to explain how void of "dark" or any kind of comedy his material is and how utterly punchable Daniel Sloss is. I would prefer any dark comedy over this. I would prefer any comedy over this. I would prefer sitting in the dark to this. Ironically most of the act is Sloss inflating his own ego with claims of how dark he is. His skin tone clearly darker than his own comedy. After a few minutes I wondered if his act was part of some too clever meta comedy where he would deliberately flop to then come out with an actual joke that lands in a way to mock the audience. No. We were mocked for simply having endorsed this man to the point that this was made. Afterwards, I sat in self pitying shameful silence not felt since seeing my own reflection in my laptop after enjoying an evening with myself the night before. That at least had a happy ending. I went online within seconds of pausing the show to create an account here just to have a space to rant and warn others how truly awful this show is. Sloss makes Amy Schumer look like Billy Connolly. The worst part of the experience wasn't the dis interesting delivery or his banal choice of words or his underserved self confidence. It was the cringe inducing pause before telegraphed set ups that now mean even silence causes me to have rage inducing flashbacks of a show that will make me sit on the floor of my shower for an hour after writing this to try to wash it off... No wait, the worst thing is that I cannot delete it from netflix so I will have to live with the perverse knowledge that I indirectly endorse and own his material. This is the first and last review I will ever write. It will most likely never be seen. I pray by some miracle of serendipity the same is true of Daniel Sloss and his career.

Bad
dougmacdonaldburr15 September 2018
I don't care that he is a left wing athiest, so was Bill Hicks and he was a genius. My problem is that this guy seems to think that his opinions are in any way rebellious or transgressive. People like him have the support of 90% of all academics, politicians, celebrities and the entire main stream media. His opinions are hardly daring or fringe. As usual, the religion he does target is Christianity, what a surprise. None of these people would dare to criticise Islam or Judaism, because that would actually get them in trouble. I am not even a Christian myself, but the double standard is annoying. Netflix pumps out so much trash it is insane. As soon as I'm done watching Norm MacDonald's new show, I'm cancelling. This man is mediocracy incarnate. Nuck Fetflix!

Sloss is a Loss for Netflix
oceansroar15 September 2018
I love comedy, especially dark humour. I waited and waited, but the jokes never came. Netflix comédiens are the worst. I have trouble getting to sleep, but their line-up puts me to sleep quickly. There are some exceptions, such as Dave Chapelle and Demetri Martin. Daniel Sloss is not in the best of list. He thinks his accent sounds intelligent, but he is not British, so....

Worst TED Talk Ever
cbarnhart-973-512274 July 2021
One condescending lecture after another, with some clever jokes thrown in. Like every other comedian today, lectures include how the audience is allowed to engage with the comedian, which I've heard done better by Maria Bamford, Anthony Jeselnek, etc etc

Yes, we know. Just tell the jokes, already.
