Great music. Bad visual editing

Close your eyes and enjoy this delight for percussion audiophiles.

Unfortunately the director and DOP do not know what to do with the immense natural beauty of the place nor did they understand that the rich dynamic sound should be complimented with the simplest of visuals and visual transformations.

There are few good flowing expansive visuals of the lush landscape. At times the B footage is better than the prime footage. When the dancers are making mudras with hands, the camera misses most of it by taking close up of the face and the mudra is not even in the frame. They never captured the whole dancer - especially since the dance is a combination of hand mudras and facial expressions/bhav. A simple shot of dancer in foreground and percussion in the background would have sufficiently captured the beauty of the entire experience better than these close ups.

The worst visual experience ruins what could've been the highlight of the episode 25:05 - 29:04. This the impromptu jugalabandi of 2 stratospherically unrelated musical instruments. Rahaman on Harpeji and Sajith on the Mizhavu. For some godforsaken reason the visual editing tries to match the wild percussion - and kills it with a thousand cuts.

For the love of all that precious art you get to experience first hand in the presence of divine and surreal, leave the camera on a tripod and let the musicians play their music.
