Somewhat bland and disappointing...

As I happened to stumble upon the 2018 Hong Kong movie "Qi Di Zu" (aka "Keyboard Warriors"), of course I had to sit down and watch it, given my love of the Hong Kong cinema. Sure, I had never even heard about the movie, but it hardly mattered.

Right, well the movie is listed as a comedy crime drama, well take out the comedy from the equation, and you are on the right path. There was nothing funny in the 100 minutes that the movie ran for. So that was somewhat of a disappointment. And the storyline, as written by Toni Shum, fell a bit short of being overly interesting. Sure, you can manage to sit through the movie once, but that is about all that there is to it.

I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in "Qi Di Zu". And that is something I enjoy when I watch movies. However, the contents of the script just wasn't sufficient to give the actors and actresses much of anything interesting to work with.

I have to say that the character gallery in "Qi Di Zu" was lacking appeal. There wasn't much depth to the characters, and it was difficult to tell them apart as they were lacking individual traits and personalities.

"Qi Di Zu" was a somewhat bland and disappointing movie. It is not one that I will ever return to watch a second time, nor is it a movie that left a lasting impression on me. And if you are a fan of the Hong Kong cinema, then director Ho-Ching Sit's 2018 movie "Qi Di Zu" is hardly a must-watch movie.

My rating of "Qi Di Zu" lands on a four out of ten stars.
