Solid Couples Romance from Jim Powers
lor_31 July 2018
Likely the first release from his less-than-hit label True Love Films, this Jim Powers opus presents a soft and gentle side of the erstwhile Gonzo pornographer, with the tag line on the DVD box calling him (undoubtedly facetiously) "The King of Romance".

Be that claim as it may, the feature does present young lovers in convincing erotic vignettes, well-acted by an ensemble cast and not insulting to the Couples Romance fan. A set-up, wraparound story, often used in this genre, has Bailey Blue and Danny Wylde checking out author Bailey's romance writing on her laptop, with the viewer seeing her story enacted on screen, leading to the inevitable Bailey/Danny sex finale.

Her storytelling concerns a group of four young women living together who are dating and dealing with true love not always running smooth. Chief dramatic note comes when two of them vie for the same guy, an idealized and far more expressive than usual Ryan Driller.

He grew up with Heather Starlet, and their platonic best friends relationship leads to difficulty when roommate Alyshe Rylee thinks he's fair game for her to pursue. Like the other relationships, including Maddy O'Reilly and her fiance Seth Gamble, as well as cute Gia Steel falling for big-dicked Bill Bailey, everything turns out just peachy in the end.

Clearly too saccharine for the typical porn fan, this is quality XXX romance action in the vein of Powers' best work on Smash Pictures porn parody (of "The Notebook") titled "Diary of Love".
