A Faberge Egg kills itself, in an odd baffling kind of way it's a little sad..
Foreverisacastironmess12313 February 2019
So this short animation sees an alive purple glass egg being put on display in a fancy store full of such nik-naks one day and it never gets purchased until the place is having a shutting down sale, and when its brightly coloured design goes unappreciated it gets passed from person to person until it eventually ends up in a lonely old thrift store where its only company are the fellow unwanted ornaments that never got a home and sit there forlornly gathering dust, overcome with despair at such a fate, the poor heartbroken little thing hops off the shelf and shatters, revealing the beautiful hidden treasure that lay within it all along, a fine and delicate miniature merry-go-round of silver and gold, which plays its joyful melody for the first, and last time... I'm sorry, this is a sad short and all, and I'm well aware that it's not really about a glass egg as such, but what it represents as a metaphor for the often harsh and painful human condition of people finding themselves alone and seemingly unloved in a very cold world, and of how sometimes the most precious things can be found in the plainest packages if somebody only takes the time to look a little closer... But I'm afraid that I really couldn't take the image of the egg offing itself too seriously at all.. The undeniable absurdity of it actually gave me a guilty little chuckle. I liked the way the short was animated though, it was lovely to look at and richly coloured and it was charming from a visual standpoint I guess, but it sure is a downer of a short, I really wouldn't recommend showing it to your little kids, I seriously think it would be too morbid for them. I've seen pretty much the same thing before in other short animations that came out a lot more better, this one is fine but it's not very nice..I'd personally have to send it right back! X

Gives sentimental meaning to an inanimate object!

Wow,I just love LOVE this film. Out of all the short films I've seen, this is my favorite...and my love and appreciation for it is beyond anything I could ever explain and my heart is just in my throat. The person who had this idea and the people who created this need to be funded for it. I personally adore the metal fancy collectible eggs like this little one here as the main character but when I noticed all the thrift store stuff frowning I wanted all of it. Thanks for a great film.

Heartbreakingly sad

I thought this short was just perfect. The animation was gorgeous, the storyline was relatable and brutally honest.

I saw it a few days ago and cant stop thinking about the sadness of the beautiful egg that just wants to be loved and appreciated. Dont we all?

Do you ever wonder if objects have feelings? I'm a nostalgic person and as a little girl always thought they did. This animated short makes me feel like a kid again. Just sad, and lovely. :)

a behavior

A porcelain egg. And its sad fate. The fall, after many owners, discovering its special beauty. It could be a parable, a reflection of a habit, portrait of a behavior. In essence, it is a lovely- sad animation, well crafted, with a precise, generouse, inspired used idea. And that virtue does it , maybe, out of artistic virtues, an usefull animation.
