Probably one of the worst finales
psychomax134 May 2019
This is by far the worst season finale of a series that I enjoy watching. It's hilariously disappointing. I kept saying 'no it can't end like this'. Seriously what am I supposed to think of it when you really need to finish a story line in a finale. Nothing more to say. I'm looking forward to season 4 now.

You wait for an ending but it's not there
paolois17 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The premise of Season 3 is not fulfilled (you need to kill ten elders and steal their totems) and is even forgotten. No mention of totems, just stuff made up at the last minute. Sam turning into an elder that looks like the Devil (from a Panic at the Disco video) beats it all. The writing is terrible. The Oracle has powers to freeze and Vanessa shows her red eyes when she is angry, some super powers (are they for Season 4?). Axel threat to Vanessa as he retreats is really funny but somehow I don't think it was meant to be. Total mess, congrats to the Producers. Don't count on me for Season 4.

Lots of Sacrifice by the Good Guys
gregoryroman-886356 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As Season 3 wrapped with "Birth Ritual" avid fans such as myself are feeling down and out. The good guys just took a shellacking, only to see Sam become an Elder or even The Dark One. I'm still not sure. Suffice it to say that Sam has evolved the most from any character who's managed to survive the first three seasons.

On the bummer side (and I really hate typing this) two of our best friends were killed so Sam could achieve his super weird vampire destiny: Mohammad & Scarlett, which just does not seem fair to me. Axel is beyond pissed and has swore to kill Vanessa because Axel blames her for Scarlett's death.

So it comes down to Sam (or whatever he's called now) versus Vanessa (and her woke Grandmother) at the Renfield House. Axel is an assassin removed from the group. The whole Denver - Loveland angle is a mess...only pray Julius gets out of it alive.

Help us out in Season Four guys. We need some wins. Badly.

Disappointed -

Warning: Spoilers
Favorite likable characters die & why didn't Mohamed come back from being killed like many other folk that Vanessa had bit?? And now they say Scarlett does for nothing? And Axel now hates Vanessa?

Axel is a huge reason to watch...

This is going to hard for me to go into S4

Well that was disappointing !

Warning: Spoilers
Kills off arguably one of the best characters of the show in Scarlet and keeps the worst in Sam!

God awful writing and the scenes in the graveyard were so inept and boring with Yadda after Yadda after Yadda...

Spoiled it all with the Sam debarcle and no answers. You could even see the strobe lights going off behind Axel to mimic the lightening.... what went wrong here did the budget run out or what???

I fast forwarded most of it to get to the end as I was sick of the narrative vampire never shutting up with the rubbish....

And to top it off, no answers and a mediocre end.

That's me done with this show and I wouldn't renew it..... waste of time.

Unforgivably bad
oovag15 December 2019
It is the worthy end of a bad series. The bad rating here is the real surprise. One could almost regain faith in humanity.

It doesn't get worse than this
etchkayg2 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I know it's a mediocre show and I should've kept my expectations low... but I just feel so bad about the people who actually followed it, I for one binged it, and I can go into the next episode but it just feels so wrong, leaving out the show on such a stupid cliff hanger... killing of one of the best characters of the show, yes I care about Scarlett more now, she's better than Vanessa always had been... and saving probably the worst character(who's backstory I forwarded because news flash nobody cares what that whacko been through, he most definitely deserved it)... resurrection a corpse that's been lying dead for a century(who had no regenerative powers whatsoever)... I mean I'm at a loss of words here, I don't even wanna watch season 4 now, guess I'll take a break... hope these writers don't write for any other series though.

A bit of a letdown
ghstcat2 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Even despite an excess of backstories of nearly everyone, I was enjoying this show. Unfortunately, the finale had some of the strong survivors dying off with barely a fight, with the emotional fight being 15 degrees off kilter, leaving you with a feeling of "wtf?"

My biggest disappointment was Axel. His character was made to be super strong and solid the entire series so far, but his... catalyst sent him into an almost childish tantrum that just killed all my respect and following for him. Granted, his recent backstory left him with a weak spot, but the writing for his catalyst and outburst was just so wrong for his character. Jonathan Scarfe's acting has been on point in an effort to make it seem justifiable, but the writing on this ending and dialogue was just cringeworthy.

As evil as he was, the buildup of Sam's character has been amazing, on so many psychological levels. And Christopher Heyerdahl's portrayal of him has been phenominal the entire series, starting with feeling nothing but pity for him at first, to him being such a psychotic elemental character.

And I never understood the trope of Vanessa's character in her self-sacrifices, kinda like Oliver Queen on Arrow. She keeps getting the idea that she has to do it all herself alone, constantly gets proven that she CANT do it all alone, just for her to stomp off, determined that her way is the only way to succeed, only to fail yet again. Characters like her and Ollie are built up to be such strong characters with a huge emotionally blind weakness. It makes it very hard to keep respect for them.

Poor script
Calicodreamin21 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The ending of season three is a culmination of a seasons worth of bad writing. Scarlett sacrifices herself for nothing, Axel just up and leaves, and the rising at the Denver camp results in nothing. Oh, and a long dead Lily just wakes up?
