Fagun Hawaay - Tauqir Ahmed's Yet Another Beauty
nafiusrkian15 February 2019
Tauqir Ahmed, Take A Bow Sir!! Yet another Artistic Beauty from one of our BEST!!

Fagun Hawaay is the 6th Directorial of Tauqir Ahmed. All his previous 5 movies have been appreciated highly by the audience. So, audience obviously had some high expectations from Fagun Hawaay. And It Truly Lives Up To The Expectations.

Set in 1952, the movie describes the situation of Bangladesh back then. The story revolves around a village named "Chandrapur" & it's people. It shows how Pakistan tried to impose Urdu on the Bangladeshis. A Pakistani officer who joins being in charge of the village, Forces everyone to learn Urdu & talk in Urdu. Even he can't bear a bird singing in Bangla. He wants the bird to learn Urdu & forces it to learn Urdu. However, Nasir & his team who perform Theatre Plays, can't be controlled by the Officer. They raise their voices & stands for their rights. This way the story moves forward. The film also beautifully portrays the love story of Nasir & Dipti.

Many people have a concept in their mind that, Tauqir Ahmed's films are slow & not "Commercial". Also going by the concept, many thought this film will be more of a 'Serious' film. But its not. Tauqir Ahmed blends humour perfectly into the story. The first half is very entertaining. Specially Yashpal Sharma, Shaju Khadem give a lot of laughter moments. In the 2nd half the movie obviously needs to move but still it doesn't loose it's flow. At the same time there are moments which can make you cry. And who else than Fazlur Rahman Babu can portray emotion BEST on screen. The film is a complete package of Humour,Emotion,Drama. Well, it has everything that needs to make a film, A perfect one.

Acting : The film's USP is it's Casting. Yashpal Sharma, Tisha, Babu, Siam, Abul Hayat, Shaju, Ronok, Shacchu. Tauqir Ahmed has gone for all the most talented ones anyone could have ever casted for their movie. Yashpal Sharma has done a great job. Obviously he is a very good actor. Siam Ahmed, I really believe he'll be topping the chart very soon. He performs Nasir perfectly. Tisha looked good all the way. Fazlur Rahman Babu had not much of a screen time, but he Nails It everytime he is On Screen. Everyone else did exactly the same their roles required them to do.

Other Aspects : Dialogues of the film are Beautiful. Truly they are. Tauqir Ahmed has written some very motivational & lovely words. Direction by him is Great as always. Perhaps the screenplay could have been a bit tighter, but can't be complained.

Cinematography was Okay. Not so great. Editing was good. Music By Pinto Ghosh & Rokon Emon was very good. The title song is very beautiful. Also the Background score by Rokon Emon must be appreciated.

Well, I've enjoyed "Fagun Hawaay". And I will recommend it highly. This one shouldn't be missed. This is a film which will take you with it for a journey. It'll make you laugh, it'll bring tears in your eyes & also give you Goosebumps.

At the end, Wanna Thank My fav Tauqir Ahmed for making another beautiful film. Would request him to keep making movies like this. Also to Siam Ahmed, Don't wanna miss watching your movies every year in the theatre

Better one!
titonsahashuvo20 May 2019
Bangladeshi art films are improving day by day. But, it has a long way to run. At least Touquir & some other new directors are trying their best. Though the plot of the film is different in an angle but it is not strong enough as it is connected to our history, I think. I've seen lots of patriotic films. So, I can say that it fails to touch my soul heartily. Actually I wasn't bored; I expected something more. Tisha, Hayat, Babu & Siam have tried their well. I'm giving it 8 out of 10 as it's different from our regular films, different thought, good initiative, impressing scenarios & for wishing best of luck to Touquir Ahmed & to Bangladeshi art films. 🙂

Historical Plot and Good Acting
p-pialpaul15 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
At first this is a historical film based on Language Movement that took place in 1952. The story starts in a small village of Khulna. This film indicates the injustice done by Pakistani army and some Bengali betrayer. But a group of young men and women stood against the decision of West Pakistan. The story was not so strong but it was beautifully portrayed. Acting was excellent.

Helps me connect with family history
naasihasiddiqui7 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I got to see this film on the big screen, with Bangladeshi community, which is great. My parents are survivors of the Bangladeshi Liberation War which came later. My first words were in Bangla, but as an American, at this point in my life, I have a pretty limited capacity to speak in Bangla. The film was helpful for me to connect back with my heritage and be reminded of how much of a struggle it was to just preserve the richness of Bengali culture, without having to absorb the grief, which sometimes happens and overwhelms me at cultural events.

A huge leap in bangladeshi filmmaking
cyborgsmosh19 April 2020
A beautiful mix of history and fiction, this movie balances those elements in a reflective manner. Though some characters are a bit exaggerated and messes up the tone, overall this is a lovely little story wrapped in the politics of the 1952 Bangla language movement. Bangladeshi films are inching closer to quality introspection, and I hope someday we can create a film to be truly proud of.

Weak Plot
p25118918 March 2019
The movie primarily had a very weak plot. Following fast half was losing interest and grip. The movie is not about the 1952 Riots but its a parallel story in one of the village in Bangladesh at that time. At the end it more seemed like a love story.
