Light-hearted topical romance by Jacky
lor_16 January 2018
"Catfished" familiarized me with the current term derived from internet dating, whereby one posts photos & descriptions to attract a lover under false pretenses -pretending to be someone you aren't.

Working at Sweet Sinner, filmmaker Jacky St. James uses this premise, previously indulged in by a Digital Playground release with the same title starring Riley Reid, to present her usual brand of sprightly, light-hearted romance. It's a rom-com minus the comedy.

Karlee Grey stars and narrates the story which revolves mainly around incest, auteur Jacky's favorite screen subject. She has a hankering for her stepdad Ryan McLane of two years, and after watching with her siblings (Alex Harper and Van Wylde) a live interracial sex show on Instagram starring Elsa Jean as "Charity Casey" she concocts a scheme to set up a fake account online using Elsa's photos and contact her stepdad as this invented character to entice him to get to know her.

In an otherwise effective screenplay Jacky very sloppily makes an error here: Just as it is repeated that the fictional girl is named Hannah Buckman, dad Ryan answers Hannah's email with a "Dear Charity" message. The relationship develops via back & forth email communications until the movie climaxes inevitably with Karlee getting her wish of incest with step-dad after he deduces her hoax and true identity.

Along the way Mercedes Carrera is hot hot hot as usual in the infidelity position, bedding her boyfriend Chad Alva while neglecting her conjugal duties with hubby Ryan, and in a contrived extraneous sex scene the distinctive newcomer, pale Alex Harper, has sex with her step-brother big-dicked Van Wylde.

Pure fluff, "Catfished" is light entertainment fitting snugly into the Sweet Sinner brand of Couples Romances, with the notable gimmick of the four women cast having extremely contrasting physical looks (variety is the spice of porn). Oddest touch for me was Jacky returning to a set she used many times back at her previous employer New Sensations, with the finale set in Karlee's bedroom having the distinctive art prop of a blackboard with furniture diagrams illustrated sitting in the background as Grey and McLane make love.
