Warning: Spoilers
I'm stoked someone finally revealed what I did spending two years in Argentina! HUNTING WITCHES BABY!!!

No for real, we tried to convert some Satanists to Christianity, and it did not go very well. Nice people though!

Addressing the "Gross Misrepresentation of a Religion" review
stjimmy10128 May 2021
Yet.... Christians get a free pass to misrepresent and demonize other religions at will. And that happens all of the time.

I do love a good double standard.

Warning: Spoilers
Okay, this show is something else. I don't know who to cheer for because it's obvious that the devil is pure evil and the coven has done more than questionable things in the past. But the "missionaries" were also quite terrifying. For those who are saying how can angels give in to the devil so quickly, remember, Lucifer was an archangel. He is intensely powerful and I'm not 100% sure but I'm thinking more angels of God will show up later in the series and not cave so easily. These specific ones seemed flawed and pretty nasty. Maybe there's some that are better than others kinda how you see there are some witches that aren't as evil as others. Excited to see where this goes. Excited at the idea that we might get a real heaven vs hell kinda war. I hope are gray characters come out okay.

The thing that irritated me the most is how forging Sabrina is for how terrible her friends treat her for simply being what she is. I can't stand her friends. Theo is alright.

One of the best episodes for real
burcami2 July 2023
We are immersed in a thrilling plot that delves deeper into the supernatural world and showcases Sabrina's remarkable powers. This episode is filled with intense moments as some missionaries, driven by their devotion to God, attempt to eliminate Sabrina and infiltrate her academy. However, it is during a climactic scene that Sabrina unveils her awe-inspiring display of power, leaving viewers in awe.

"The Missionaries" is undoubtedly one of the standout episodes of "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina." The tension escalates as the missionaries' presence disrupts the harmony at the academy, creating turmoil for Sabrina and her friends. The writers skillfully weave suspense and action, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats throughout the episode.

What sets this episode apart is the incredible scene that unfolds towards the climax. Sabrina, confronted by the missionaries, taps into her inner strength and manifests an astonishing demonstration of power. It is a breathtaking moment as she harnesses the might of the Lord of Lies, Satanas, to incinerate each missionary with an otherworldly force. The visual effects and Sabrina's commanding presence create a truly unforgettable sequence.

In this pivotal scene, Sabrina exhibits an unparalleled mastery over her powers, revealing an almost godlike form suspended in the air. Her speech, an satanic devotion oration, resonates with both her adversaries and the audience. It's a testament to Kiernan Shipka's exceptional acting skills, as she convincingly portrays Sabrina's growth and transformation into an incredibly powerful entity.

"The Missionaries" not only showcases Sabrina's immense power but also serves as a pivotal moment in her character development. This scene marks a turning point, where she fully embraces her dark heritage and harnesses it to protect herself and those she cares about. It's a defining moment that solidifies Sabrina's role as a force to be reckoned with in the series.

The episode's success is also attributed to the exceptional writing and direction, effectively building tension and delivering a powerful payoff. The episode balances action, drama, and supernatural elements, creating an enthralling viewing experience for fans of the series.

"The Missionaries" is an extraordinary episode within "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" that captivates audiences from start to finish. It showcases Sabrina's evolution into a formidable force and presents a visually stunning display of her powers. This episode will undoubtedly leave viewers in awe of Sabrina's immense capabilities and eagerly anticipating what the future holds for her character.

WUOOOOW!!!That was dark
paulchristechgod23 January 2020
Sometimes I really wonder if it's the same writers who wrote Riverdale. They have raw talent.Greg's shows are better off if they're 10 or 13 episodes. This gives room for masterful writing. And I'm saying this after watching 'YOU' and rebinging Riverdale season 1.I still can't believe that its the same people who wrote Riverdale scripts, which, from season 3(But not 4 as much)became total BS.I still can't believe I was ever going to say this, but at this point CAOS is way better off than Riverdale.

No wows here

Warning: Spoilers
I'm getting bored with the half assed "rescue/expose the truth" missions led by Sabrina and company, particularly in the last episode and this one. Huge gaps in the story lines and reasoning. Of course she'd try to rescue the other witches, despite how they treat her, cos that's who the character is. But to walk into known hostile territory where the hostages are, and just launch into your hero spiel, and not check if any of the enemy is behind you? That's just coincidental writing so the character can transform -- very little skill involved. Shame on you people for getting paid to write this tripe. And then there's Nick and Harvey waiting outside, doing what? Oh I know, that Harvey has to be able to run in at the end and see Sabrina in all of her anti glory, but could you please put some thought into it next time. It's highly distracting when you don't.

I agree also that the so called angels gave it up too quickly. Instead of wasting all that time over Sabrina "dying" and filming the looks on the other witch's expressions watching her, then her rising and slaying the zealots (and even more shots of them watching her), the writers could have used that time to create a real conflict. Yah, she "died". Yah, she's "risen". I get it, now move on. Being clobbered over the head with it, only creates frustration, not fascination. And what was up with the satified smile from Dorcas near the end? She's never been shown to be astute on any level before, or to have any affection for Sabrina, so why is she looking like the cat lapping the cream?

I gave it a seven for the earlier parts such as Hilda's roasted rescue chicken attempt and Ambrose's understanding of it, and her. And for Sabrina running (biking) away from the first zealot in her kitchen with the cat trotting behind her. And for Theo standing up for her, and for Roz calling to warn her. And for poor Mary Wardwell's (Lilith) pain over losing the one person that truly cared for her (Adam). She's been playing both sides against the middle, and while I still can't decide if I like her, I do see clearly where she's coming from, how she's been ripped off, and how alone she's expected to be.

shocking in the bad way
pauli_gomez6 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The episode seemed quite off since the start with characters behaving oddly (like Roz and Harvey being awful, Nick being a racist and things like that). And the witch hunters were quite a parody but I was more or less all right with it until the end. The revelation of Sabrina's powers were cool and all but literal, real angels so easily converting to Satan? That makes no sense at all.

Diaboli ex machina
seinsinnes28 November 2020
I like the world and characters of the show. I think visually it has much going for it, though I agree that it is being shot with not enough light.

The problem is the writing which is superficial and often leaves major plot holes. This episode is an example with the resolution being metaphorically lowered on to the stage.

It never quite seems to reach its potential but that potential is enough to keep me watching.

A good adrenaline pumper with a very poor plot
aruntyagi-6423922 May 2019
The initial part of the episode was quite dull but after half an hour into it, it rapidly transitioned into to some action-packed piece with amazing revelation that makes no sense at all(if you have seen previous episodes and season, you might have have realised that 'Sabrina is not a competently skilled witch but DOES WONDERS AS AND WHEN WRITERS DEMAND IT'). Hence the episode does justice in terms of thrill but misses out on both, plot and reason.

Warning: Spoilers
Not sure what is precisely going to happen, but this episode did give us some exciting drama amidst a very odd hostage/kidnapping scenario.

This show has me hooked back in after some bizarre episodes prior.

People Forgot Who The Missionaries Were
natisomna9999911 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What made no sense in this episode is that Sabrina, and group are going to try to save the rest of the witches. These witches tried to kill them, tortured her whole family. And yet for some reason she is going to save them? And another issue that irks me is that, the missionaries were supposed to be ANGELS. I'm sorry, but how can angels get whooped by witches???? And at the end when the angels started to pray to the devil, I was SHOCKED. I had to turn the episode off because I knew that it was a load of bull.

So stupid.
korpake10 April 2019
The entire episode makes no sense. The story makes no sense. The plot makes no sense. The characters and their decisions make no sense. The entire thing plays out like poorly written fan fiction. And it's not worth the time to explain why. This season just gets worse and worse.

Gross Misrepresentation of a Religion
tyra01210 April 2019
It was blatant that the missionaries were of the Mormon faith, and they made them out to be the most evil and wicked of any other villains. I really enjoyed this show, but I refuse to watch anymore after this episode. I'm appalled the writers would stoop so low to make a specific religion seem so wicked. Had they been mocking a race or any other religion, this episode wouldn't even be allowed to air. But for some reason people feel Mormons are fair game.

Kiernan is a horrible actress
The scene in the church was so cringy. Also, are angels supposed to be that weak and fragile?
