Alert - Child of the '90s speaking. Yes, I watched Sabrina the Teenage Witch with Melissa Joan Hart. I was in junior high at the time, and I remember it as funny and cute. It also premiered before our newest Sabrina was born. And Kiernan Shipka has given Hart a run for her money- in fact, Shipka is better than her show, judging from the first two episodes. But Chilling Adventures of Sabrina indeed has an impact. It's probably the best show of its kind to come along since Buffy.
That impact is more scary than funny, making it perfect for its Halloween premiere. Much of the explicit Satanism is nail-biting stuff, and it's easy to feel fear for Sabrina. Zelda is actually the most frightening and repulsive thing in the series (long pig!). Also gratifying to see Sabrina stand up to it- this is the right choice for the series, I think. The third path notion is similar to the underrated TV series Spawn (1997). And I'll be rooting for Sabrina on it.
