Kirkman Agonistes

Warning: Spoilers
Unfortunately this show had to follow two other shows doing very similar premises recently, but this was still probably the best Designated Survivor in a long time. A big issue with the 25th Amendment coming up and the show really amping up the intensity.

Not sure if Kiefer Sutherland vs. Michael J. Fox in a faux court situation is what the show needs, but if this episode was any indication DS will wrap up its second season strongly.

Competence/Incompetence

Our poor guy. His accomplishments have been stirring (thanks to the writers' hard work). Yet all it takes is a leak and the cabinet is ready to give him the heave-ho. Seth talks to the press about this, talking about how well the guy has carried on after his wife was killed. Miichael J. Fox has shown up reprising his character from The Good Wife. Different name, same guy. Anyway it looks like the season is going to be about the effort to oust him.

Strange similarity to the current events of Jan 6th 2021

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this episode on Jan. 8 2021, right after the storming of the US Capitol. As a result, many in the government are presently planning to invoke the 25th amendment in order to remove the actual President stating that he is unfit to rule, and that his actions have encouraged his followers to break into the building.

In this episode, Tom Kirkman is still grieving from the loss of his wife and is asked to step down from office, after his personal audio consultations with a psychiatrist were leaked to the American public. As a result, they consider him unfit for office and also evoke the 25th

The script was written 3 years ago. Hard to conceive that the reasons for pulling the 25th out of the bag in both situations, would have been so utterly different.

At least this story line has a happy ending.....

There was a painting at 26:44. The painting is Composition VII (No. 7) by Kandinsky. The painting is upside-down.

25th Amendment is Not Sentence
Vivkon2 December 2018
This episode asks the viewers to rethink the concept of accountability for people who are holding a public office. Writers pit the concept of accountability against the needs for privacy. They successfully show how everything can work against you regardless of your positive attitudes. Hopefully, Kirkman has a lot of lives.

Warning: Spoilers
The addition of Michael J Fox is a step backwards. He is impossible to understand and annoying.
