I loved the chemistry between these two. This episode had a lot of twists and a lot of suspense

Bishop is a stunner

Wow, how drop dead gorgeous is Bishop. What a beautiful lady she is. She always plays goody two shoes as Ellie but I thought she was great being racy and provocative. She's certainly got all the equipment to be a femme fatale.

Different kind of episode is not always great.

Even though I really appreciate originality in tv shows, books, cinema, but for me , "High tide" is a perfect example of how writers don't know what direction these characters to take. Even though as an episode, it's above average, it doesn't stand out.

Let's start with good.

. The story here is mostly compelling. Really like the idea of Torres, Ellie trying to infiltrate into a drug cartel. "High tide" does feel intense at times and has some moments of fun in it.

But it's not enough to make a very good entry.

. Lots of people have talked about Emily Wickershams performance and how she's not good at playing a rough, spicy character. In my opinion, even though Wickersham is definitely not the best actress in the world, she doesn't have an opportunity to play a different version of herself, because every time she starts to do something that Ellie would not do- Torres busts in. It's pretty apparent, awkward in the opening sequence.

Ellie and Torres really seem to fall in love with the underground world as well, but it's a shame that by the end we never get a feeling: their character has grown with the experience- everything rolls like it used to. It is especially here, when I feel that writers of NCIS were not sure of what they were doing and the whole entry feels unfocused by that.

Also, the final twist of who is the murderer, I found very clear and not clever whatsoever.

Overall, "High tide" is fine, but not great.

High Tide

This was a different kind of episode here. It almost had a Burn Notice feel as it was primarily about undercover work and dealt with chasing a killer in real time, not the mystery around who it was.

Emily Wickersham was not really equipped to play that spicy and rough talking character Bishop went under as, so that hurt my score for the episode a bit.

The closest Torres and Bishop have gotten but still underwhelming.

Warning: Spoilers
The boat explodes four seconds after the scene shifts from Torres and Bishop walking on the pier - to Gibbs, Vance and McGee in MTAC and I fully expected one of them to call one of their names (Bishop or Torres) or both but no one says a word and it cuts to commercial. This is not believable! Maybe McGee and Vance are stunned silent but not Gibbs. Never. I am still in shock that he said nothing after the explosion.

I will never accept that the NCIS creative brain trust can be OK with bringing the odd couple of Tony and Ziva together (though extremely awkward) but not Torres and Bishop. Those two kissing during an undercover operation in this episode should have prompted them to have "the talk" as previously mentioned by them. It won't be long before Bishop is written off the show, leaving a bizarre unresolved relationship. I hate being reminded of that.

It is clear to me now that these writers never placed believability as a top priority. They sacrifice it A LOT and it usually backfires. Crime dramas must be believable to the viewer.

This is just getting ridiculous...

Warning: Spoilers
Again - another attempt to portray Bishop as a "tough chick"...IT JUST DOESN'T WORK, people!!! This, along with a sad attempt to make her a femme fatale - puh-lease!

Not only that - WTF is wrong with Torres?!? Not only has he been predictably in subordinate by defying direct orders (which he, like his gal pal Bishop, won't face any repercussions for, other than hauling a few dozen SCUBA Tanks around), but the lead-up to the "surprise" ending was just unfathomable. ANY Federal Agent worth his salt - PARTICULARLY one who spent most of his career under deep cover knows: YOU DON'T BREAK YOUR COVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! What - just because they "bonded" over both wanting to be a Fireman when they were little...?!?!? Absurd. Has this show jumped the shark?! Rapidly approaching the irredeemable stage.

The current cast of characters, IMO, is really sparse in talent and kind of pathetic. Maria Bello (and her character) doesn't fit here, AT ALL - the only show I ever tolerated her in was "Goliath" but TBH, was relieved she left after the first Season (can YOU picture that she was ever married to Billy Bob Thornton? Then became a Lesbian...UGH)...Wilmer has barely "graduated" from his loser, petulant character whose ego is bigger than Everest in "That 70s Show" (with no development/improvement in his acting ability)...David McCallum is still around in the sphere, but barely seen...I still enjoy McGee, but he's slowly slipping into "WUSS" status (nothing about his recent marriage and fatherhood - seems to have been precipitated by his and Gibbs' capture in Paraguay)...luckily, we still have Gibbs, Jimmy, Abby, Director Vance, and Ducky - again, offscreen mostly, but present... (soap box descended...rant over, lol).
