The Good, The Bad and Felicity
highmarksreviews20 November 2018
Season seven is progressing very well thus far and while no episode has been spot-on perfect, "Due Process" might come close enough. The plot moved around very naturally, juggling witty banter between Curtis (Echo Kellum), Anatoly (David Nykl) and a few members of former Team Arrow. Yes, the writing was particularly sharp this week, with the dialogue meshing very well with each character's motivations. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) had a very prominent and effective arc, highlighting the fact that she can indeed be a good person, but alas not a professional lawyer or a guardian angel. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) seemed to be placed a little more front and centre, something that didn't hurt the episode's quality in the slightest. If anything, it elevated it truth be told. The flash-forwards fell into place with her current status, in a moral limbo contemplating murder and the sacrifice of others. Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) and his merry team of Longbow Hunters weren't exactly the strongest this time (no Hunter getting any mileage story wise), but at least Diaz had a few good moments to himself thanks to Acevedo's occasional bursts of rage. Oliver (Stephen Amell) had a smaller, but intriguing Slabside tale to tell, one that involved the murder of a guard. While I wish that would be have been explored more, the prison's rogue's gallery returned with Vinnie Jones, Michael Jai White and Cody Runnels as Brick, Turner and Sampson to provide more menace and the ending with Oliver's slammer pal Stanley (Brendan Fletcher) hint at darker times to come in jail. As mentioned, the flash forwards progressed nicely, and continue to pile on mystery after mystery. "Due Process" was, if anything, an eventful chapter and worked all the better for balancing flash forwards, character drama and action. The stories connected surprisingly well, with none really overshadowing the other.

Diaz was actually interesting at the end

Warning: Spoilers
The episode deserves a good review just because Anatoly was in it, but it a lot a lot of other good stuff too. My only problem was that Diaz wanted to blow up the city, which is the most generic villain plan in this show. The standoff with him and Felicity at the end made up for it though

Getting a little better.

Arrow

Episode 7.06 (3.5 out of 5 stars).

The episode continues with Felicity making progress in pursuit of Diaz. Meanwhile, Oliver is trying to solve a murder of a guard in prison. Trying to free up his ally from being put an underground cell.

The episode was a little better paced with action. The flash forward going in a interesting direction. The twist in the end that is foreshadowing about a character.

Have to admit it... How interesting and fast paced arrow now..! Never been this much excited since season 5 and this episode is great... Not even a single bad episode this season so far... Future storylines are very interesting and present day stories, other than prison storyline, got into the mood finale.. Prison story is always the standout but in this episode outside story also scored... What's next now!? I'm excited

Warning: Spoilers
The episode was awesome because Oliver survived level two.In this episode the arrow team does great job to save Anatoly and actually done as Oliver said to carry on his Mission, this thing was great. In the episode Laurel tried to set the Oliver free from prison that was nice part though But the appeal was denied. At the end somehow the team arrow managed to capture the previous series big bad Ricardo Diaz but I think that's not it,it will go further.the Longbow Hunters still out there. At the end , Anatoly will leave the star city as it looks due to his Maldives trip and as a Good bye gift he gave to felicity a gun to fulfill her wish to end the destroyer of her life and Laurel stops her not to do that and Said about Make a trade with to replace a Ricardo Diaz with Oliver.that part look like, I assume we can see Oliver outside the prison.

Solid.....except the cliche twist at the end

Warning: Spoilers
The story going on in Arrow at this point is actually solid and this episode did good keeping it flowing along but it hit an unnecessary bump at the end. Never for a second did I think Diaz was actually getting locked up but the writers took about 2 seconds to develop how that wasn't happening. He quick bribes a guard on the trip to the pen? Not that creative. Maybe having the longbow hunters (who have been under-utilized) break him out would've made more sense. But at any rate, this season and the last 1/3 of last season have been some of the best episodes in quite a while.

Another Step Back

Warning: Spoilers
So, I really thought tonight's episode might be the end of Diaz. He got caught, and taken into custody. That was it, he's done. No more Diaz. But....then you see the preview to next weeks episode and... he breaks out.... What is this show and what have they done with Arrow.

In reality, it's not a blatantly horrible episode. I didn't completely mind Laurel's dialogue tonight as the writers gave her more to do, but it's frustrating that she's even being put in the position she's in. It literally makes no sense. But if you take a leap of faith and go along with what the writers have created for us, then it wasn't all that bad. Finally, we got some 1on1 moments between Ollie and Laurel that were reminiscent of the conversations they had back in season 2 as Laurel was on drugs and Ollie would rip her a new one.

The future material was a mixed bag this week as well. On one hand, that tennis ball easter egg Felicity left them was pretty neat, even if the mere fact that they're investigating a future Felicity and her "bad ways" she got into is utterly ridiculous and uninteresting to me. The episode is about being both a "good and bad" person for sure, but there's something about the way they portrayed Felicity "turning bad" in the future to be very disingenuous. My god does she really go by "the calculator" in the future?

Just as one more side note, are we really going to make that stupid little "Stanley" character evil now? Please.
