Multicultiral or 'islamophobia'
Ubermensch0122 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Sweden dying to be 'islamophobic'. The documentary talks about multiculturalism and immigration but quite calmly only talks about muslim immigrants and the loss of the Swedish culture to Islam. The invertviews conducted are mostly of people who are either of Polish or Hungarian descent and fails to incorporate the Swedish take on the matter. Also, there is no constructive approach to the topics in the documentary, it feels haphazard and fails to correctly address the issue of 'multiculturalism failing' or should we just say for the love of God the paranoia of islam taking over whatever. Poor portrayal of freedom being controlled. I have travelled across Europe and I am a Muslim and I can say that Sweden has it better than most of its European allies when it comes to freedom to speech. The media may be controlled but the government's fear of it leading to mass hysteria is not baseless. There is a fine line between freedom of speech and hate speech and modern mass communication just tries to test this boundary one too many times just to experiment its limits. How can Polish and Hungarian people give sound analysis of what the Swedish culture is and how its being lost to multiculturalism when they themselves are part of that multiculturalism. Like I said, they just targeted muslims and not multiculturalism otherwise they would have talked about themselves with the same notion.

The "review" above is an attempt to ruin free speech

As a Swede, born and raised in the region portraid in this documentary, it's a very accurate account of what's happening in Sweden. The interviews are done with academics and workers and instead of taking my word or the hater above, see it and make your mind up yourself. 1 star is just pathetic.

Brave and compelling

I've seldom seen a film that is so outstandingly brave and at the same time intelligent as this one. It's a kind of road movie in which the filmmaker and expatriate Englishman in Sweden (with a half Swedish background) rediscovers his mother's country and realises that it's changed profoundly and probably for the worse. He focuses on Malmo, Sweden's third largest city, which has seen a massive immigration influx that has settled in the city at a great financial cost. The city was supposed to be a showcase for the new rainbow nation but as a large proportion of the population is unemployed it survives solely on large hand-outs from the rest of Sweden. One quote strikes me truly. Sweden can afford to pay for one Malmo, but if the whole of Sweden becomes like Malmo who is gonna pay for Sweden? You need to apply both your heart and your brains not just your heart to this thorny issue of population replacement. Apparently Malmo leads Europe in criminal shootings.

The mainstream media prefer to publicise the rosy-tinted official picture of a multicultural paradise but the reality is something much more complex and alarming. The filmmaker doesn't hesitate to challenge taboos and aim to go behind-the-scenes of the pretty picture presented to the outside world. I recommend it highly if you want to know what modern Sweden is truly like, the big debate that energises and angers real Swedes in their coffee rooms and workplaces, every day and every moment.

This "documentary" serves as an example on angled media.

The title already tells of the hyperbole, the heavily biased interview subjects, the bad production quality and the attempt by the creators to cash in on the bigotry and fear of certain political groups.

But actually watching the "documentary" also reveals their lazy attempts to present opposing views and facts, overshadowed by the use of silly music and heavy editing to only present what the creators want the viewer to see.

This "documentary" is nothing short of a propaganda piece. It has the production quality and journalistic integrity of Sharknado. And that's being generous.

proven correct and understated

If you - like myself - have spent some time in Sweden you know that this film is not easily dismissed.

If you don't go, you won't know. Except you can know if you watch the film open-mindedly.

The film makes two simple points: the idea that Sweden would be better off as a multicultural nation with Swedes just being one of many other cultures living in a country with the name of Sweden is questionable. It should be questioned. But those who raise questions are treated poorly. In the most liberal of liberal countries people are afraid to question the wisdom of radically changing the demographic composition.

One has to agree with this: there is something that is questionably, so people should feel free to question it.

Otherwise a great feature of the film is that instead of sensationalism, it calmly presents facts, with clear refences to, in most cases, public statistics collected by SCB, a world renowned institution.

By the way most of the interviewees are immigrants themselves, so its pretty clearly not against immigrants, just against radical policies.

Why so many stars 10, because it has a great sound track, just kidding, it actually does, but more because the journalist in the film clearly has the courage to ask the right questions and make a meaningful film.

A warning that will be ignored

Beautiful film that tells a horror story. Everyone think that multiculturalism is a great thing. But what if it has a high cost? Great interviews with mostly immigrants and a few very interesting academics paint a disturbing picture. The craziest thing is that hthose who seek to warn about the downsides are discouraged. Its crazy and it will be very interesting to follow Sweden over the next years.

Poorly Made Propaganda

Warning: Spoilers
The main claim of this short film, just over an hour, is that Sweden was once a liberal paradise until they let in those eee-vil Muslims.

That's it, really. To back this up, they bring out a small number of people telling anecdotes. As another review noted, most are not even Swedish. They are eastern Europeans speaking English.

Sweden was never and still is the paradise many claim. It had eugenicists who influenced the Nazis. It still discriminates against Samis/Lapps, who even get beaten up on the street. It has two far right parties who get about 20% of the vote and actually wear storm trooper uniforms.

But it also has many great people. It is one of the best on immigration. One in eight Swedes is a refugee, Chileans, Rwandans, Iraqis, Afghans. I'm Native and Latino and never experienced any hostility when I traveled there.

So what's their evidence? None. No statistics, except one made up one that doesn't mention either Muslims or immigration. If you support the Sweden Democrats, you get fired. Really? 20% of Swedes were fired? That's how many voted SD. In a nation with 6% unemployment, obviously that's false.

SD are the far right party mentioned before. They are actual fascists. Not as in calling somebody conservative or pro war a fascist, but as in loving Nazis and calling Black people "monkeys." This film is theirs. The film maker is an ex leftist best known for a conspiracy film.

If it were even well made hate preaching, then I could give it over 1 star But it's low quality, and too dull to provoke.

ETA: I'm glad of the strong reactions to my review, both the downvotes by bigots and the higher than I expected number of up votes. Good to know many others feel the same.
