Comrades in Arms
bobcobb30131 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I know there will be some people who purposely hated this episode because of the politics, but when it comes to doctors I think most would save a patient regardless of their immigration status, so you can't say they did something to purposely alienate Conservatives or to pander to Democrats.

It wasn't a great episode, but it was fine for a medical drama.

Upcoding is illegal
robinparker3112 May 2018
In this episode they actually have a consultant come to the hospital to discuss upcoding with doctors and nurses. Firstly, a consultant would never speak to medical personnel about billing, they would speak to the billing personnel. And what's most ridiculous, they actually had flyers made up to help show the employees how to 'upcode'. This is the most preposterous thing I've ever seen on a medical show. Yes, unfortunately upcoding is something that healthcare facilities do but it is extremely illegal, it's insurance fraud and it certainly would never be discussed openly in a meeting with open doors and medical personnel present. And beyond that, they absolutely positively would NOT ever leave a paper trail like those 'CUTE' flyers that they made up, to give the medical personnel a way to remember how to upcode. I've been enjoying the show because I think the acting is good and the stories are good but they need some people on staff who know something about hospital and healthcare administration if they're going to be successful.

Public endorsement of up coding?! Please.

There is a lot of unethical behavior that happens in the healthcare field and especially in billing but this was such a blatant political statement against healthcare I can't believe it. I work at a hospital. This was gross.

Hollywood's skewed view of ICE agents
jsi-231 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Was it really necessary to depict ICE agents walking into the hospital like grim reapers? What a load. ICE agents actually do have beating hearts and don't really chew the heads off of live baby bunnies.

As a former ICE agent, there's no way ICE would take custody of an alien with the medical condition depicted. Why? Because it then become the government's responsibility to take care of her.

It frequently happens that ICE does have custody of gravely ill aliens. They get sent to the hospital to get whatever level of care is appropriate, to include any necessary surgeries and/or chemo therapy or radiation. The government frequently pays hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical costs, USING YOUR TAX DOLLARS!!!, for individual detainees.

Yearly, for all detainees in custody, the government pays hundreds of millions in tax dollars to make sure they all receive adequate medical care. So in actuality, if the writers wanted to come up with a solution to make sure Louisa Rodriguez got the care she needed, they should have written a scene where the doctors instruct her to sit on a bus bench outside of the hospital, then call in an anonymous tip to ICE that there is an illegal alien out there, and let ICE pick her up. Once she's in custody, all of her medical issues are the responsibility of the government. And if you think, "Yeah, right, they just deport her so they don't have to take care of her." Nope. There's strict rules about that. They're required to provide whatever medical care the detainee needs until it can be determined he or she is safe to travel and is not suffering a grave illness that can't be adequately addressed in their native country.

Total BS!
jjsoltis17 August 2019
I was enjoying this series UNTIL THIS EPISODE. Thsi is a total political lie. To make it look like ICE are the bad guys. First off, they would not come into the hospital. Second, if they di arrest her, they would take her to a better hospital where the staff were fighting over the cost of the care. I am done with this series.

Got way too political
ed-2681130 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The show HAD shown some promise, but then they just had to go full libtard. The greedy corporate attitude of the top brass and accountants versus the poor DACA "kid" who just wants a better life after her parents abandoned her in OUR country, leaving us with the burden of raising her and paying all her bills. Oh, but she's a good, hardworking DACA who just wants a better life and has never known any other country, poor her! It'll cost a couple million, most likely, to cure her cancer, but that's fine, after all, she's a DACA kid, so she's more deserving than American kids. The "mean" charities think they should take care of American kids instead of DACA? How DARE they want to take care of Americans ahead of foreigners in America! OH, and then some meanie called immigration! OMG, the poor DACA kid! Please, spare me all this PC SJW BS in all the tv shows these days. Anyone who is honest with themselves would admit that if it came down to it, they would save their OWN family members before strangers. That's how life is, it's normal and natural. America putting Americans first is just an extrapolation of family taking care of family first. Another show no longer worth watching.
