Nothing About This Episode Makes Sense
dalefl25 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm trying to stick with this show, but the more I see the less sense it makes. Just looking at it from the Billy point of view... He's got to have some kind of idea that Marisol is not exactly who she appears to be, at the very least that she's hiding something. Yet in the middle of a meal she convinces him to go down to the beach and wait for her. Not "let's take a walk on the beach" , but to walk down and wait for her. And this is after he agrees to go with her to Mexico because she wants to get away from it all. Even my Cocker Spaniel could figure that one out. Next thing you know she's calling to him from the passenger seat of a black SUV and still no red flags go up. So they get to what is plainly obvious a cartel hacienda with armed guards and one handed vineyard workers that she refers to as her home, yet still no warning flags. Not to mention that she knows he'll be out of cell phone range and the only outside communication he'll have is a satellite phone so that the cartel will know the details of every call coming and going. And. He. Still. Does. Not. Leave. Couple that with a cop who should know better but still takes with him the only way of tracking his location, namely his personal cell phone, while he's supposedly trying to hide his family from said cartel and you just end up with a big steaming pile of what the hell.

Why constant plot flaws?

Warning: Spoilers
What cop or anyone in their right mind would take their cell phone with them while hiding out from a drug cartel trying to kill them and their family?

Two Cinderellas
bobcobb3011 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't crazy about all the JT flashbacks. Too much crying and a lot of time wasted just to explain why Billy would similarly wander into an area of crops later on.

It was a good episode though. Dark, but good. The Quinceañera scenes felt like something out of Narcos.

An All Expense Paid Trip to Mexico
Hitchcoc19 June 2018
Marisol takes the unsuspecting Billy to Mexico to meet her brother. While he is there, all hell breaks loose on the home front. We get to see just how powerful the cartel is. Julio is about to be released, but....... Keith and his family are going to be put in witness protection, but...... We get another look at the psychotic Gabriel. It's quite amazing that Billy isn't just shot in his room. It will be interesting to see what takes place in the last two episodes.

Impossible to believe storyline
btimmer11 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
1. The judge says there will not be an investigation into Julio's suicide since he obviously admitted his guilt. This is unbelievable. If a juvenile kills himself in prison custody, there is an investigation. Even if it's cursory. It's a suspicious death. And it was someone in a high profile case. 2. The death of a police officer and his family, even if they were hiding out from the Mexican cartel would be an enormous story that couldn't be covered up. 3. Someone running for mayor of Los Angeles just doesn't go off to Mexico a few days before the election. Because Los Angeles is a major city and people actually pay attention to who is running for mayor.

Claudia
lavatch28 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
In a flashback to fourteen years ago, we learn that J.T. could not gain a stay of execution for an innocent man. At the time, J.T. was working with Billy at the Copperman law firm. The prosecutor on whose conscience the innocent man was executed was the future Judge Wallace. This led to J.T.'s breakdown and career change.

While there were "surprises" in this episode, the violence was so excessive that the viewer is left only with sadness. After Roman has done the right thing, he, his wife, and his children are murdered by the man with the prosthetic hand. After Julio has finally been exonerated, he is killed in prison by an insider working for the cartel with a "confession" written on the blackboard.

The episode alternates between these two events and the time Billy and Marisol are spending with her psychopathic "brother" Gabriel. There is a festive occasion with Paz and Mercedes celebrated as young women coming of age at the home of their "godfather," Gabriel, who places silver slippers on the feet of the two Cinderellas.

We learn that Marisol's real name is Claudia, and she has a most unhealthy relationship with Gabriel. A revealing moment comes when a nun is filled with disgust at the sight of Marisol/Claudia.

When Billy learns by phone the news of both Roman and Julio, grabs a bottle and heads into the vineyards. In this beautiful setting, it is clear that Billy is being set up for the kill.

Another dull episode
kyron-252124 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Slight spoilers. Sadly most of the cast is absent from this episode which is mostly used to build up the main two antagonist's relationship to each other and their history. It's a boring history of cliched character and motivation. The episode which is also very padded is mainly an excuse for the main character, Billy Bob Thornton's Billy McBride, to be distracted from things going on at home in one particular case. The idea is based on how quickly McBride has developed feelings for Marisol and it's really uneven. As intelligent and cynical as McBride's character is (as per the first season) he seems to have gone doe-eyed and alcoholic binge over his trip down south with Marisol. The episode seems like filler as the pacing drags on and on toward a forgone conclusion. There's a few bits of plot that are dropped but this could easily have been trimmed by about 20 minutes. It's not a good episode and if it weren't for those bits of information it could easily be skipped.

The first series was good but this one has so many plot holes it's rediculous. Unfortunately I can't get the 4 hours of my life back.

Okay...
jmdarden-2510223 October 2019
I thought this series was going to start coming together but w each episode it makes less and less sense. Watching episode 6, probably my last one, gonna pull the plug! So I had the bright idea of reading some User Reviews of the remaining episodes and - yikes! - what a mistake. By the final episode nit one viewer could make sense of the story. I'll admit, I felt a little better...at least, I'm certainly not alone! But sheez, I've ended up binge-watching almost all night, gotta be up in less than 2 hours, so wish it had been worth it. Now I'm just perplexed by the non-story and sleep deprivation...!
