Great season opener with some really great moments
nothimme31 August 2018
Character development was on point. Executions were great. One-shot and tracking shot scenes were beautifully captured. They were the peak of the episode and they both captured the intense that needed perfectly. I liked how the dialogues dwelled on the characters' psychology. Some of the actings could've been better. The pace was okay. The cinematography was good. Overall the everything was handled beautifully. I'm satisfied with the outcome and loved the direction that they're taking.

You just remember... he's not your daddy.

A Surprisingly solid season opener for Ozark's sophomore run. Soundtrack was great, acting was top-notch and cast looked perfect together. Don't understand why this show's getting such lukewarm critical reception. Looks mighty good to me.

There is no off season

As the title of both this season and this review suggests, this is how you return for a much-awaited season. Jason Bateman is back both as the protagonist Martin Byrde and into the director's shoes, and he hasn't disappointed. The writing, cinematography has been never better.

Solid start to the sophomore run. Kudos, Netflix.

I was skeptical when I started watching the Ozark season one! But it engaged me instantly and I begun to be entertained! Now with the release of season 2 I am both equally engaged and entertained!

Love it love it, can't Stop Watching it

Ozark is back and this season sees the Byrdes becoming different beasts. We jump right into the action with a dramatic shift in tone from where we left off, with the opening scene seeing Marty and Wendy dance and talk politics at a Kansas City event. Before the screen cuts to black and displays the series' signature four-part logo, Marty sends Wendy off to speak with a mystery man. After that, we cut back to present day. Darlene and Ash deal with Del's body. She's still pretty bent on justifying her bloody actions.

Cleanup complete, the Snells stop by the Byrde home. Together, they discuss a plan to make it look like Del drove to Chicago, swiped a card and then "fell off the face of God's earth." The Byrde kids are trying to move on, too. Charlotte has secretly kept $10,000 of her dad's stashed money in case they need it. This proves troublesome for Marty, who soon discovers that Rachel made off with her own stolen cut from his wall stash. Far away, Ruth is in tricky territory with her dad. She testifies on Cade's behalf in front of a parole board. Afterward, she takes out her confused emotions on Marty at the Blue Cat, where she confronts him about her future. Meanwhile, Wendy is examining her new funeral parlor. When she's done suggesting improvements there, she comes by the Blue Cat, where Marty shares the news about the stolen money. Back at house Langmore, Cade is making Ruth uneasy. He prods about her uncle's deaths. In the middle of the night, he comes to her bedside and gives life to her unspoken anxiety all episode: Marty Byrde "ain't her daddy." Can the rest of the season keep up with this insane start? Fingers crossed! While the Byrdes set to work, Helen Pierce is in Chicago seeking security footage of Del swiping his card. When an attendant refuses to help her, she simply sends in a goon to shoot him.

Season one opening was one of the best episodes on the whole season, but this was'nt so great, but it's Definately promising opening. Slow and carefully dont, whitch is a good thing: Hopefully this season manage to do unexpected twists, keep up great acting, directing etc. Seems like it, like the creators just getting warmed up and series aimes to involve like breaking bad.

Series aimes to involve like breaking bad?
thornrosebud24 July 2020
I'm writing this in response to a previous review. I'm not sure I understand what they are trying to say. It just doesn't make sense to write "series aimes to involve like breaking bad". If they had written " the series aims to evolve like Breaking Bad", It would be understandable. I'm not sure they are using words correctly or even spelling them correctly. We'll see what exactly they are trying to convey here as the episodes continue. I just still have a feeling that poor grammar and vocabulary was used.

Reparations
bobcobb3017 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The first season of the show was a bit overrated, but this was a solid return for the show. The right amount of dark humor and ominous threats.

I hate that they added an actress who played a character on Jessica Jones that I disliked to this show, but maybe that gives me a routing interest for Marty and against her.

Awful writing!
mrwb7727 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Tried to get in to this show but the writing is just awful and nonsensical right from the pilot.

Firstly, Marty has 100% incentive to go straight to the Feds then. Not only does he have intricate knowledge of their operation and money laundering. He also witnesses the cold blooded murders of his team by Camino Del Rio!

The chances of them letting him go launder more money after that, are zero!

He can keep his money and go in to witness protection, end of show right there...

In this episode, it's discovered they've covered up the murder of one of their lieutenants. There's no way some hill billy dying is going to make up for it.

The cartel would come and wipe them out, all of them! Can't be trusted in any way at all. Regardless of what else they do for them with the money laundering. Game over.

It's like the writers of this show never bothered to watch any other material on how the Mexican cartels operate, fact or fiction.

Awful!

Nice setup

Warning: Spoilers
With the shocking events that ensued in the last season finale, of course repercussions most follow. This episode deals with the aftermath of that event. We are introduced to a new character who will likely be the "face" of the Navarro Cartel this season. Helen Pierce is the cartel attorney with whom the Byrdes and the Snells will be dealing with. I thought, they took Del's death a little bit lightly, I thought the consequences will be severe. And it seems the Casino will be the major talking point of this season. We are also offered a fresh dynamic in the case Ruth and Her father Cade. It's gonna get interesting.

Waiting On Charlotte's Character To Develop
noonieblount9 May 2020
Season 1 I was waiting on Sofia Hublitz (Charlotte) character to grow up. Although she is supposedly playing the role of a 15-year-old girl no where in Season 1 does she dress like, talk like, think like, nor act like a 15-year-old girl. One moment the script had he being an annoying 12-year-old babyish type and the next you would think she's 17 about to head off to college. I was hoping that Season 2's opener would at least develop her character more in the script to match the maturity of her age......NOT. Hopefully, it will get better as Season 2 progresses. *fingers crossed*
