Gods in cars

Warning: Spoilers
Mr Wednesday and his faction all go off together to do things.

Shadow is captured and tortured by someone who shows us some of Shadow's memories of his early life in America.

An attempt is made to get someone back into the frey.

Laura and Sweeney bicker and eventually find what they're looking for.

And that was fifty three minutes.

It looks great. The Laura Sweeney bickering is fun. Mr Wednesday and Mr. Nancy's scenes don't amount to anything.

Can we just move the story along a bit more please?

So tired of the critics!

Fuller is gone... so what?!?? I am so tired of critics disparaging this show in his absence. Critics clearly do not love book as we fans do. We don't nitpick every line in the script, every directoral decision. We love Neil Gaiman and appreciate this show for bringing his epic tale to life. Don't listen to the critics. If you loved the book, you will love this show.

Wow!!!

I think this is my favorite episode so far. Very deep and emotional episode. And I love how all the different story lines are all connected and heading toward hopefully a spectacular season finale. Reminds me a lot of GOT. I have not read the books so I have no idea what is in store to come. Two big thumbs up

Somehow even worse than episode 1.

For the 2nd time in two episodes of Series 2, I find myself struggling to make it even halfway through an episode.

Season 1 was pieced together with set pieces to showcase the characters, and the world the show is in - the bank robbery; the historical flashbacks; the non-sequiturs. For this season, on the other hand, the current showrunners seem content to plod through episodes in the most basic, boring, uninspired ways possible.

In this episode, we have the worst, cheapest looking sci-fi torture setup; the introduction of Shadow's mum (and young Shadow) as THE most one-dimensional, humourless parody of the 'cultured, cool mom'. And don't worry, there's still plenty of mind-numbing expeditionary dialogue.

Remember those characters from Season 1, where you couldn't wait for them to talk? Oh they're still here, but that sharp and interesting dialogue went the way of the Dodo. And Gillian Anderson.

Why am I even complaining, other than to vent? Unfortunately it seems a lot of criticism is levelled at the alleged 'liberalising' of the show, which is obviously bs. I'm just trying to wrap my head around how a show can, by actually RETAINING the original author, still manage to become the polar opposite of everything that originally made it great.

Too much mawkish bonding

Warning: Spoilers
The whole mother raising a son in a country that hates him felt like an episode of Law and Order. And the tedious, repetitive torture scenes - boring. What was that ridiculous machine anyway? Terrible second episode after a great starter.
