Pretty good acting but in my opinion the best version of TVHC was back in The early eighties at the Griffith Duncan theatre (Newcastle University) featuring yours truely as the lead orange and Graham Stacey as one of the legs

Unique Animated Shorts that are Charming but not Entirely Endearing

The almost legendary story of the hungry caterpillar and three others are told in a strange but invoking mix of story board cut outs mixed in with animation and fantastic orchestral overtures. I haven't ever seen animation done like this and it is at times beautifully abstract and magnificent.

The first story is simple and easy to watch, with the caterpillar reaching for bigger and bigger helpings of food. It features a very memorable tune that sticks in my head.

The second story is not quite up to the same standard. It involves a weird and unlikely attempt at climbing a ladder to reach an object in space. It's boring and the concept is silly, even for kids.

The third story is unusually depressing, although children may not notice it. It features an insect scrolling around through a relatively interesting world with plenty of creatures, but it has a satisfying ending.

The forth story is quite mad. It involves a creature that wants to become something more and gets everything it wants, and the visual element combined with the realism of the scenery makes this one my favourite.

There is a bonus music video at the end. The frame rate of this is too slow and its hard to care about it much.
