Emily the Foundling Child

Warning: Spoilers
In an explosive revelation in episode three, Emily's peripatetic brother Jack blurts out the fact of the heritage of his sister: she was an orphan! This point comes out after Dr. Jack went on a bender due to the stress of the press coverage of his sister.

While the orphan background may or may not figure in the context of the narrative, it is disheartening moment for Em to receive such a dressing down from her brother. When he blows his cookies, he tells Em, "Just as life was becoming bearable again, you had to come back!" This callous remark suggests that Dr. Jack had reached a breaking point in caring for their infirm father, battling alcoholism, and losing his license to practice medicine. He then accepted his sister's death and now seems disappointed that she is still alive!

As this series progresses, one really has to feel for Em. In this episode, she wins the opportunity for some quality time with her son. They go to amusement arcade where the driver mini bumper cars. Unfortunately, little Flynn crashes into the vehicle of his mom, and the boy is rushed to hospital with a concussion. It probably would have been for the best if Em had not challenged the lad to race.

With the death of Harlow, the arrest of Em seems imminent, especially when camera surveillance footage shows her in Harlow's neighborhood prior to the murder. In fact, she was driving to the home of Nick and Alice to spy on them and see what a happy household it is. Nick is now desperately trying to buy time, and asks the Boston police detective Tommy to hold off on the arrest.

After Nick and Em trespass illegally on Harlow's property, they photograph a shoe print on the living room floor. Nick makes a match of the shoe print with good ol' Adam, the head of the Boston FBI office and presumed personal friend of Nick and Em.

With the match found, it appears as though Adam could be the dirty cop. This impression seems confirmed when Nick questions Adam, whose answers are evasive. Em, who promised Nick that she would remain in her hotel room, makes a beeline for Adam's condominium. She discovers a book with strange illustrations of an all-seeing Eye. But the wily Adam senses that something is amiss with a picture frame slightly off kilter. Em then makes a crafty escape from the home. Wow

Good, just a bit slow.

Jack has a couple of drinks, and a historical issue comes out from their younger years. Another death, and Emily is really looking guilty.

I enjoyed the first two, I found this one a bit of a drag, it seemed a bit slow in comparison with the opening two episodes.

Emily is now seeming incredibly guilty, but they can't make any sort of case against her? Not sure. Good scenes with Emily in the hunt for evidence, was nice to see her smile, even of her joy turned into sadness and worry.

How on Earth are they going to stretch this out over ten episodes?

It's good, it just feels very padded.

Alice needs to go

Warning: Spoilers
I am really not liking Alice. Emily is Flynn's mom and she has been gone due to being held captive for 6 years. Alice likes that Flynn calls her mom but she is not really his mom. I am sick of her acting as if Emily is trying to take Flynn away from Alice. It is just stupid the way she acts. This whole episode has made me like Alice less and less. Alice needs to actually encourage Flynn to be more open with Emily (his real mom).
