Another episode where Captain Holt's squad goes through cases and punchlines faster than Terry with a cup of yogurt. This episode was more emotional than regular with the "Nine Nine" precinct's future hanging in the balance. All through the episode there was a sense of how are they going to do it, and Jake & Charles were of course in the lead with uncovering a pretty solid case. All through it we witness the lovable and endearing aspects of their relationship which culminated in a very funny but heartwarming stakeout.
In the meantime the brilliant socialite influencer Gina Linetti is once again weaving a web of pranks throughout the episode. The show keeps using it's character's outrageous quirks to great effect and whenever Gina is involved it gives a very meta mystical character to the whole scene. And again it's her unnecessary pranking here which sets up the whole episode.
It's fun to watch how each character responds to the presumed ending of their fellowship. While Jake and Charles completely act out, Rosa and Terry are actively grieving. Captain Holt takes the sombre, passive route and Amy becomes a maniacal teacher's pet. And Gina enjoys the show like an audience out to amuse itself.
The pace, jokes and everything else was fast not giving you time to recover from the last laugh before the next one hits you. So for meeting the high expectations this show has already set for entertaining, I give a nine to the 'Nine Nine'.
