Season Finale
safeJ30 May 2018
Of course there's suspense here, despite what other viewers might think. However the flashbacks/flash-forwards caused added confusion, trying to figure out what caused what in the plot. Where did all the bad guys come from, however? No real explanations here. Seems like Murdoch may have met his match, but we'll see in Season 11, Episode 1. (I haven't seen yet myself, so anxiously waiting for my streaming site to "air" Part 2/episode 1 of Season 11.)

WTF?
aky13-125 December 2022
Season 10 ends on a huge cliff hanger and then a happy CHRISTMAS episode is foisted upon viewers before the denouement of the story line? My wife and I are sitting here TENSE and anxiously awaiting resolution of the story threads. We do NOT want to see a happy Christmas episode.

Thankfully, Hulu allowed us to skip the happy holiday filler after being disappointed when it began automatically! But this takes time and disturbs the drama.

Whoever plans and schedules episodes needs to read and HEED this review. This is a DRAMA with a two episode story. Do NOT break up the drama with holiday pap. This is grossly unfair to your viewers.

Another frame job???? Really??????
tert7226 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Wow these writers really suck. Another frame up job of a main cast member? When writing episodes you kinda want to make it believable, even if it's Sci fi, fantasy or whatever..... Framing murdoch, again, is beyond anything remotely believable. Especially when murdoch has the prime ministers ear, and I'm sure many other powerful people. And all up till the last episode, Crabtree gf seemed really nice, and the writers decided in one episode, to make her to be totally awful. Lazy lazy awful writing..... This is what the 4th or 5th framing episode up till now? It's stupid. And to have Davis back in charge.... Again????? So one politician gets to decide that? And to have the press in the corrupt politicians pocket, I guess that hasn't changed..... It's the same here in the US...... But horrible horrible episode. And the cops..... Just standing there as gun fire starts??????? Um duck and cover maybe? Just a dumb lazy episode all around......

season finale

Warning: Spoilers
episode 18 ..way too trite for words!!!! A little more imagination would be greatly appreciated. This program is called Murdoch Mysteries. This is not the Davis/Williams show. Where is the suspense? We have all seen this before on numerous other finales. Unless this is the end of Murdoch he will be exonerated in the first episode of the next season.

Absolute garbage

Warning: Spoilers
This series has always been lowbrow. It's the sort of written-by-children-for-children idiocy that hits the spot when you're in bed sick or need some background noise while you do some light chores. But this episode is ten times sillier than the usual! It feels like the Simpsons Treehouse of Terror, their annual Halloween episode where anything goes- the cat might grow tentacles or whatever. In this Murdoch Mysteries Brackenreid is a wuss who daren't stand up for what's right, Giles' blatant frameup of Murdoch is somehow accepted by the world despite his record as the dirtiest of dirty cops, and Murdoch's years of acclaimed heroics are as nothing, everyone just buys the frameup instantly with only Murdoch's loved ones suspecting he could be innocent, a perfect witness is deemed useless just because she's got a disreputable job (nevermind they've made use of testimony from all types before, even street urchins) to the point where nobody records her testimony or even does a formal interview, and they don't put her in protective custody... it's all just so improbable and stupid. None of the characters act as they would, society and the constabulary also don't act as they would. It's way too goofy for the viewer to suspend disbelief.

And duh, the main character is obviously not really going to be hanged. There's no suspense in such a plotline because we all know they'll be rescued in the nick of time, like they are in every single shark-jumping hack script. At least frame a nobody who's still got some emotional value, like one of George's aunts, so we might be in doubt as to whether they'll survive, and be scared. But do we really need to have someone be framed every few episodes? It's a pretty ridiculous plotline in any case, much less to keep reusing it.

I guess what I really want is for Father Brown to have more episodes lol! It is a superior version of MM. Like MM if it was well written and didn't use any shark-jumping foolishness, nor any Forrest Gumpian cameos by historical events and people. Just plain, good quality murder mysteries and character interactions. MM will never be half what FB is but imo this episode in particular is maybe 1% as good as the weakest FB episode. I can't believe dozens of people were paid to create this.

Framejob Mysteries
interestingstuff24 October 2022
They should change this show's name from Murdoch Mysteries to Frame job Mysteries since every second episode is a frame job story where either Murdoch, Crabtree, Julia or Thomas gets framed for a crime they didn't commit and they end up in jail just to get exonerated in the last minute.

Writers love recycling same old clichés over and over every few episodes to the point that if you've watched any episode of this show before this one you'll be able to perfectly predict this episodes outcome as well as 90% of the future episodes because they all use the same formula almost to the T. They should have ended this show around season 4 or 5 at latest when writers clearly ran out of ideas. Why drag a show for so many seasons and episodes if you are not inspired anymore?
