Excellent Police Procedural French Style
Preznikoff22 March 2020
Haven't a clue as to why none of the 4 police procedurals featuring Patrick Cresnais and Camillle Panonacle have gone unreviewed. Perhaps it's because each of the individual stories were made over an 8 year span. Excellent acting, plotting, surprise twists and turns, highly entertaining and engrossing, I wish there were more. Patrick Cresnais, unknown here in the USA is a find. No nonsense, straight ahead actor in the tradition of all the great French actors: Raimu, Baur, Gabin, Jouvet, Fresney. Excellent!

Exciting, french police mystery
artlou-1869719 July 2020
The major problem here is the poor closed captioned English translation on Acorn. They only translate 1 out of 5 sentences, frequently leaving you in dark if you don't understand French. Despite this major problem, the story, acting and characters were worth the watch

Character driven French procedural gem- 4th in a series (watch in order)
LyceeM1624 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is the fourth and final (unless there is to be a new season) episode of a series- with (1) Crimson winter (2) Blue catacomb and (3) Yellow Iris. *****Watch them in order as there is a plot line that builds as the series progresses. Gritty (sometimes gruesome, sometimes psychologically disturbing, rare nudity, sexual themes ) but with nuanced and interesting characters. Character driven: Plot lines are is well crafted and entirely character driven. In my view, the principal characters move from being quirky, even unlikable to human and engaging (although appalling at times). The two main characters include a strong (but flawed) female detective with an interest in psychological profiling. Series is great if you like mysteries imbued with psychology. The psychopathology mostly rings true. an. The main characters are human and not cardboard and the characters develop over time as does the interaction between the 2 main leads.

This episode (like the others) has some upsetting themes and scenes and is not OK for children. The episode addresses both a new mystery and an ongoing mystery that has developed over the previous three episodes.

This series is worth a try, especially if you like films and series in Paris, are unable to visit just now, and long to savor the streets of Paris and Paris life.

Disappointing
Obiegray20 September 2023
I can only imagine that, if anybody in Paris, who is police, has watched this must feel incredibly embarrassed by this very poor representation of police capability and intelligence. The characters, especially the main female detective, are incredibly inept, unaware, seemingly incapable of keeping their own psychological flaws in check as well as unbelievably emotionally delayed. Thus the writing and acting are predictable, transparent, lacking in logic and rationale. I watched this from beginning to end, episode by episode, hoping for some kind of eventual redemption from each of the main characters, who are, after all, human, but they only seem intent on exhibiting increasingly darker and immature sides as well as any unresolved maladaptive coping skills of their characters.

P. S. Very odd acting skills.

Unfortunately, it is the only episode saw from series. So, I discovered it only as a film . About family, parenthood, about secrets of past and about murder. I admired the beautiful acting of Patrick Chesnais and the fascinating story of family Destouches. And, sure, the precise definition of Mariella deLuca proposed by Camille Panonacle.

A beautiful story around two young man - one , dead in India , looking for discover his biological father, the other, inspired by a painting, discovering dark secrets of his family , interested to fix a very old crime.

And a young student, killed in street.

A smart crafted crime and beautiful end.
