A brilliant & much needed attempt.
malvikachaudhary-8554624 October 2019
It's a brilliant take on misuse of dowry law.To know other side of the story is equally important and this series succeeded in it.You will feel disgusting throughout and emotional at the end.Indian Judiciary is a Joke and people who are taking advantage of it are a disgrace to humanity.

A must watch for all Indian men and every woman related to men...
mouseatmouse20 March 2018
An unconventional topic explained so conveniently. A heart touching stories, a very thorough research work and very unbiased prospective. It brings into light every aspect about the (in)famous law. It raises the question of why men are prone to commit suicide. It really takes guys to tell the other side of story specially when no one wants to even talk about it.

By default Husband is the only oppressor in Marital laws
abhisekpanda2123 March 2018
Every Male & his family members must watch it to know the darker truth when marriage goes wrong in India before they get married. This movie shows a true picture about how a law made to protect the bride is biased & has been grossly misused as a weapon to take revenge & extortion. It covers the interviews of the male victims (husbands) &/or his family members in case the husband is dead (suicide) & their plight in fighting a biased law favoring only the bride blindly. It also covers the opinions of the law practitioners & their hopelessness towards the cruel law. As a debutant Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj has done an excellent job without dramatizing the sensitive topic. The facts/statistics are enough to shake you, which the mainstream media has been hiding since long.

Martyrs of Marriage ( Documentary Film ) Review:
vijayanandbp26 March 2018
Martyrs of Marriage Review:

"There comes a sequence in the Martyrs of marriage where a butterfly tries to fly into the air space but it is shielded by the glass wall. The legal terrorism, the misuse of 498A has clipped the wings of the families for not allowing to lead a normal and happy life; in spite of having their luxuries or the basic needs which can satisfy their lives."

How one false complaint wrecks so many lives of people, how silly demands and petty issues takes up the lives and how, in spite, of having authentic proofs from the authorized departments still forces someone innocent to fight the cases for years and when the false cases are proved wrong, then nobody is willing to take up the defamation cases of males to fight against their injustice which is meted out in all means. The misuse of 498A - This one sided law has wrecked not only the institution of marriage but also the families across the country and some even, sitting in the country, chase the people who are settled overseas and harass them.

The documentary film - Martyrs of Marriage is one awakening and a noble work with a prime purpose to bring the awareness of misuse of 498A and the aftermath. It further tries to address the other criminal sections which are used as weapons by women to falsely implicate their husbands and family members to hide their misdeeds, to seek the sadistic pleasure out of them and of course for the extortion of exorbitant money.

Martyrs of Marriage addresses so many different tragic stories of innocent lives being harmed. The ruthlessness of 498A misuse has muted the voices of even the people who are in legal field and their interviews stands as the testimonies which consciously forces them to stop thinking on how to stop this fast growing legal terrorism.

As its rightly said, "Male -The forgotten gender", which is overlooked and ignored by both the genders and the unfavorable laws for men only damages the cause further. There may have come many documentaries on many social injustices but for men, the Martyrs of Marriage stands alone yet forces every individual to take notice of it. To the best of one's knowledge - It's the first documentary which is spoken in length, with a thorough research, about the social injustice meted out to the men and their families due to the misuse of 498A.

The Technicalities of the Documentary film - Martyrs of Marriage should get all the accolades. Though the writing & direction by Deepika, is tight yet throws light and covers varied cases and one literally fails to hold his/her tears all through the film. The editing is apt and at times goes back and forth in aligning the interview bytes to give the much needed clarity and synchronies to take the proceedings forward. The background music tightly holds the cause of Martyrs of Marriage.

"A marriage will never remain a marriage, even if it slightly gets bruised by the misuse of law."

PS: Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, in all means, should be a proud and blessed person today for investing time-energy -whatever limited resources she had on her hand to make it possible and highly successful. The sincere efforts are visible and it's because after she faced stringent challenges, rigorous hard work, years of dedicated research and putting the best efforts in travelling length and breadth of the country to meet the people who were affected by the misuse of law; along by getting the opinion from the legal experts and social activists. Deepika's lone effort to bring the awareness of misuse of 498A and its implications has gathered a lot of storm in last few years and certainly will become a movement in the coming days. A movement to have a balanced and not the biased law.

gauravmmn28 June 2018
If me or my family member had seen it earlier, my life would have been in much better scenario. Kudos to Ms. Deepika for putting up great efforts in showcasing the shortcomings of our society. I recommend for every young guy to watch this documentary if he is looking for happily ever after. All these efforts will not go in vain and certainly this documentary gives a strong back in fighting gender biased laws of Indian society. Thanks.

A bold step to showcase the real picture
maheshpsharma20 March 2018
Thanks a million to Deepika for bringing up such an eye opener. The documentary talks about men and his parents and siblings getting trapped in the very famous gender biased laws of Indian judiciary. These laws were supposedly made to protect women but unfortunately these are misused by some brainless and shameless females as an extortion tool. There is no fake or made up characters all are real people (law abiding citizens) who suffered the pain, harassment and insult by the protector of laws. This is a must watch more for the females and her families who should understand how painful it will be if their own brother / father has to go through with same gender biased laws.

A Must watch how Wife harass Husbands.& Pain of a male.
vikasmalikchd23 March 2018
This documentary by "Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj", clearly shows how wife harass husbands & their family. How they openly misuse the biased laws made for them in 80's to take revenge from husband these days, to extort money from husband. how many males really feel when they are separated from their kid's, why husbands do suicide. A great work done by Deepika to show so called other side of Modern, Independent & Educated females.

Do Bring more movies like this Deepika Mam to open eyes of Blind society & Law makers.

A must watch documentary on one of the most misused provisions in India.
A big thanks to Deepika Bharadwaj and her entire technical team for making a wonderful documentary on the most misused provisions of India 498A. The documentary explains very well how the law has been misused by the women in India hence men and their family members suffered throughout their life. It is an eye opener to the society where men are assumed to be cruel to the women but the other side of the truth is that women are more cruel to men when it comes to misusing women centric laws in India. I recommend everyone and specially the judiciary, police department, cabinet politicians, NGOs and law makers to watch this documentary.
