The Schtup List
bobcobb30113 March 2017
The Good Fight continues to deliver quality programming and quality cases three shows in. These cases are rivaling that of its predecessor The Good Wife where they make you think and leave you wondering what the verdict will be.

I could have done without Luca and the prosecutor flirting, TV legal dramas abuse that cliché a bit too much, but this was another strong show from what it is becoming one of television's best shows right out of the gate.

A good mix of real life and politics is no stupid theater

This is the episode that got me hooked. Finally a série where politics is not treated as a kind of stupid theater. The casual swipes against Trump are also a pleasure to listen to. The real thing tough is the way they explained one of the worst laws of this country: the anti-terrorism law. That is one of the albatrosses that keep our foreign policy beholden to arbitrary positions linked to self-serving lobbies.

Conflicting moral laws

Great episode, I wonder why the Nuremberg argument was not used.

The military doctor under oath says that the Geneva convention does not apply and only applies to state vs state war. The rebuttal would have been "wasn't the Geneva convention based on natural law the same logic used to convict Nazis who were just following orders"

How do I "if your enemy is hungry feed him and in so doing you heap burning coals upon his head" and not be charged with providing aid to the enemy? Can I arrest him and then feed him? What if it is a group and I am just one?

The idea it to NOT enable. Love is not removed - love your enemy just as a prisoner is fed and given medical care. But do not be complicit to their deeds!

Tricky stuff.

Why bring Politics in

Why did they have to trash President Trump into this. Disrespectful. Obama did lots of awful things in his presidency but the Democrats will never admit to this.

A Great Episode

...on how politics infects and sometimes degrades/embarrasses/exposes/indicts/etc. 'humanity'. I can see why the one Trumper reviewer got so bent out of shape. In some way, very humanistic. In others, calculating in legalistic machinations - but not so much as every moment in The Good Wife series. Michelle & Robert King nail it in this new series. It's more truthful and reflective of each of us individually (embarrassingly so). Great use of visuals. Intense subtle observations (Think characters Lucca & Colin Morella at the bar - flirting at first. Horrid honesty/regret/awareness about being played a few moments later.) The Kings continue to show us all what great TV can be about. Thank you! What more can one say? Especially in this MAGA age, where no one says anything nice about anything or anyone, or any writing couple/pair?
