A Rip-Off Of Chainsaw
phoenixarisingpictures9 February 2020
Even the poster for this movie is ripped from the chainsaw movie poster. This is a film that needs to be removed from this site. It's a film that doesn't make sense. Don't watch it. Not worth the electricity that it needs to be shown.

Astonishingly bad cinematography

Warning: Spoilers
MEATHOOK MASSACRE II is a perfect example of the kind of grotesque horror trash that indie filmmakers are making in the modern era. It's a film devoid of originality, content to copy such genre classics as the Texas Chain Saw Massacre without ever offering a voice of its own. A killer is tracked to his home, an underground cavern, but it turns out he has a whole family assisting him. This is very poorly shot, with arty intentions that come across as false, garish looking and oh-so-cheap. The cinematography is among the worst I've seen.

Warning: Spoilers
If you missed seeing Meathook Massacre, the first feature, it was only an hour long and was mentioned in Camp Blood 5, which was more of a Camp Blood 4 part 2. This was a far more ambitious undertaking weighing in at 66 minutes with the final credit run lasting 7 minutes. I'll let you do the math on that one.

The feature opens with an event that happened 10 years ago as three girls go missing. We see 2 of them on meathooks, an important plot point, if you don't mind a spoiler. The film jumps to the present in the current wilds of Nebraska as a family of supposed cannibals are killing people coming to their door as cars break down nearby all the time. Finally the brother of one of the missing girls decides to go look for her after 10 years.

The film includes long time "D lister" actress Dawna Lee Heising who was listed as "showgirl" in Blade Runner. She has also worked with Creep Creepersin. In spite of all the incredible talent, the cinematography was bad. Sound was cheap. Had some good tunes. Acting and dialogue was bad. Special effects noticeably cheap. The killer grunts like a pig. He wears a blood painted mask with an elastic band.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Second installment in Dustin Ferguson's "Meathook Massacre" franchise sure to delight fans of indie-slashers!

While the first film in the series was shot on VHS, this chapter graduates to hi-def digital video, giving it a unique look and feel, but keeping with the same tone as the original movie. The plot this time around involves a young man who ventures into the dark, twisted world of "Bubba" and his cannibalistic family to find his missing sister.

What I like about this series is that each installment looks, sounds and feels totally different than the one before it, but there is enough connective thread to tie them all together. I think that keeps things intriguing for the viewer, as it doesn't feel repetitive. Robert Lankford again reprises his role as "Bubba" and does an awesome job in the part, creating an animalistic and scary villain for the franchise. Deborah Dutch is introduced into the fold as "Auntie Deb" and really shines in her role. Genre favorite Dawna Lee Heising also makes an appearance as a crazy member of "Bubba's" family and brings her A-game to the part. The rest of the cast does a nice job as well in their roles. I also really enjoyed the soundtrack of the film, with some songs provided by the excellent "Dragonsclaw" band. Dustin Ferguson is someone to watch out for in the business and really brings a solid second installment to the franchise with some fun twists, turns and plenty of the red stuff. He employs some interesting visuals in the film, especially the way the cavern sequences were photographed. Check it out!
