Slick animation, with some meaning despite being deliberately obtuse

A being created in a void catches sight of its own reflection in some black matter - becoming obsessed with looking at itself.

Supposedly this film was born out of a sense of isolation and frustration while the artist spent 3 months in Japan; having spent 1 month there myself, I don't have much sympathy since I loved the feeling of disconnection from everyone else - and valued the small moments of connection even more. However I did not make a beautiful and pleasing animation out of my experience, so he has that on me. And it is a very enjoyable animation, with lots of color and creativity in the way it moves and expands within itself. The idea of isolation didn't come through to me so much as self-obsession and being wholly insular (as opposed to simply being disconnected, which is not the same thing).

This theme didn't connect to me as a viewer, but it was still interesting and the animation was very good. I loved the simplicity of the shapes and colors as they contrasted with the variety and complexity of the world created. I'm not a massive fan of LTWC's type of animation, but it did engage me visually here.
