I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I wish it had continued. Stefanie (Tennison) did a great job. Her looks did not hinder her role at all. I found her very believable as a new cop who is smart, sensitive but tough when she has to be. I am looking forward to watching the original as I love Helen Miran as well. Great job to everyone. Too bad it was short lived.

A powerful, emotional and compelling finale

Warning: Spoilers
What a terrific finale. This entire series, I've enjoyed the characters and the story, but this episode has blown me away. I won't go into too much detail and give away what happens, but this is the episode where Jane emerges as the JANE TENNISON we know. Stefanie Martini is incredible in this episode, as are Blake Harrison and Alan Armstrong (the look he gives his wife before he leaves her is heartbreaking).
So much emotion in this episode, after the shock of episode 5. Jane finally had that grit. Shame they couldn't start the series with it, but then this series was about her BECOMING the Jane we know, but this sets up one hell of a promise for series 2 and 3 and 4 and...
Well, you get my drift. This has been a brilliant show. For those who gave up on it after episode 1, come back and binge on all six episodes. It is, frankly, superb television. Encore!

I only started watching this series cos my wife wanted to, but it has been one of the best things I've watched in a long while. I could hardly breathe during episode 5, it was so tense. Had no idea how it was going to end and couldn't tear my eyes from the screen in episode 6. I'm not the soppy one, but I was in bits.
Beautifully acted and written. Can't wait for series 2. Never thought I'd say that 6 weeks ago!

Cannot disclose too much (must avoid spoilers). After the climax in episode five (also nail biting great by the way), this episode made me realize how truly magnificent this series was. Adding to every compliment from the other reviews, two scenes stood out. First, selecting Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" for the song at the graveside scene - heavenly and surreal. Second, the returning bus ride scene mirrors the first scene of episode one but with the added perspective of her experience, losses and broken dreams. Nice touch. i sure hope there is a series 2,3,4 etc. Bravo!
