Well the final episode of the handmaid's tale and another brilliant performance from Elisabeth moss and also pure evil by Yvonne strahowsky make this the highest and best rated episode and it's up there with some of my greatest shows of all time so my final score is 10/10 for episode and 9/10 overall for the series.

A very ''rough'' show
nikitacpv21 August 2023
I started watching this because of my mom. My mom loves watching tv shows and probably even more since I have moved out the house. She has her Netflix and Disney +, but I recommended her to get Prime. On that streaming platform she found The Handmaid's Tale to watch. My mom quickly became hooked and I had to give it a chance.

You have an idea of what to expect when you read the synopsis of the tv show, but nothing comes close to how ''rough'' and difficult it is at times to watch. Maybe it is difficult because of the likeliness that this could happen.

The show is rough.... It is female-unfriendly, it is anti-gay and a lot of other things. But the one thing that I did find comfort in watching is the bond some of them have with each other.

Without spoiling it too much, this is a very strong series with a strong cast and a story that literally has never been told like this before. With the ending of the first season I am curious of what will happen next!

A Stunning Season Finale
badeclerck21 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The season finale of The Handmaid's Tale" is nothing short of explosive, delivering a rollercoaster of emotions, revelations, and nail-biting suspense.

The episode kicks off with the shocking revelation that Serena is aware of the intimate relationship between June and Fred. Serena confronts her handmaid, and in a surprising twist, compels her to take a pregnancy test that comes back positive. Serena's joy is palpable, and June seizes this moment as an advantage, only to find herself blindsided when Serena takes her on a journey to see none other than her daughter, Hannah. June is trapped in the car and unable to reunite with her child, as Serena deftly reasserts her control and shows June who holds the cards in this power struggle.

As the episode progresses, the contents of the package in June's possession are revealed. It contains thousands of letters, written by women who, like June, have become handmaids. These letters offer a sense of relief, demonstrating that she is not alone and that thousands of women are yearning to rebel.

Serena confronts Fred about his relations with June, revealing that the child is not his. In response, June lies, asserting that the child is indeed his, a move calculated to feed his ego.

The climax of the episode arrives when the handmaids are ordered to execute Janine. In an awe-inspiring display of unity and resistance, they all refuse to comply. The episode concludes with the Eyes arriving to apprehend June, in a moment of powerlessness for the Commander and Serena.

Additionally, there is a heartwarming scene where Moira successfully escapes to Canada, reuniting with Luke and collapsing into his arms.

This season finale raises more questions than it answers, leaving viewers eager to dive into the next season to discover what awaits the handmaids and Moira in Canada. The Handmaid's Tale continues to shine as a compelling series, championing the strength of women like never before, and serving as a true treat for viewers.

Episode 110

Warning: Spoilers
If Elisabeth Moss wins the Emmy you can point to a bunch of episodes, but this one will certainly be a good choice for submission material. Offred trapped in the car shouting to see her child was as compelling a scene as we've seen in a long time.

The maids refusing to go through with the stoning was another powerful scene. The show has had its highs and lows, but it certainly went out with a bang.

Why if offred can cuss the lady out; why not address her rape??? Why isn't anyone talking about the negative issues of this arrangement that has been decided upon. Why isn't the misery and the need for punishment not enough to say the Handmaid's way isn't effective overall. So we populate the earth but how do people think these children will be raised??? I know I don't have to watch this but I'm so frustrated.

Good, if not great

Warning: Spoilers
NIGHT closes the first season with the same quality as built up in previous instalments, although I do admit I was hoping for something a little bigger; there's good incident earlier on in the show, but it does get very cheesy at the climax with the slow-motion strolling and music pumping on the soundtrack. You expect more, somehow, and you know it's a cheat because things won't have changed by the next season. Still, there's plenty of powerful drama here so fans will enjoy.

It's like they made an entire season from an episode
perlshop26 July 2018
God this a really slow show. I'm reminded of the Sloths in Zootopia when I watch the characters of this show.

It's like they shot everything in slow motion.. every dialogue, every move (I've lost count of the times they shown people climbing up and down a staircase for 2 minutes alone). I think after the novel ended after season 1 they are really struggling for more ideas and plot points.

Please make a good season 3 and stop this slo-mo madness. I hope it picks up some pace in the next season.

From June to Offred: A 21st century slave tale!
Reno-Rangan14 September 2017
SEASON 01:

I was not sure to give it a try, in the end I just went on. The reason was, another dystopian theme. It was a short season with the 10 episodes, and I've got a mixed feeling. It was based on the 30 year old novel of the same name. I mean 3 decades old source is very old in the present trend. Since that book there were plenty of films, series were made similar to that theme, including one feature film adaptation. I don't know the screenplay was highly borrowed from its original source, but all I expected was alterable.

Even though I felt familiarity, I enjoyed watching it. My issue was the drag. The whole season was a drag. Dragged to have one more season, or maybe more in the future. Especially I was very disappointed with the season finale. It only felt like a mid-season finale and yet a lot more to come in the same season. But that was only my assumption, this season ended at the halfway. They had held back too much to have some of it in the upcoming seasons. That's very intense move from the production perspective, but for the viewers, it left with unsatisfying.

The plus points were the casting and production. Elisabeth Moss was very good. Her expressions saved in parts of the earlier episodes. Particularly, her smile during those circus were going on, instead of being tensed and confused. That reveals the character, who wants to stay alive for a reason. As the story progresses in the next episodes, you would know more reasons why. Alexis' part was short, as well as many others. The overall the characters design was good. But I anticipated more from the story side to reveal.

In the near future, the humans had lost fertility capacity, excluding a very few men and women. Those who are capable of having babies are taken as slave surrogate mothers, after separating from their husbands and kids, to assign them those who desire to have children. This tale follows Offred, who is one of the maids. Her struggle against the couple who took her in, and overall society, how it treated her and others like her. The American dreams are gone. Many fled to Canada and yet some are trying to make it there. But Offred is not concerned about that. She now has to find her daughter before planning anything.

Each epidoes were decent, but only a couple of them were top class. At least now we know what to expect from the follow-up season. Also the perspective of the story was very restricted like everything was from Offred. The episode like 'The Other Side' really made it interesting. We need more those kind of explanation of what's going on on the other side. Especially for a television series, they have all the time to detail out from all the angle. That's what I like in the series, otherwise I'm always a film fanatic, love to watch short and sweet tales. So I'm waiting for the season 2.

Warning: Spoilers
Serena found out about last night. There was makeup on her cloak. She angrily hits June. She then forces June to take a pregnancy test and pee on the stick in front of her. It comes back positive.

In the dining room June tells Nick when he comes in asking what happened that Serena found out about last night and that she is pregnant. Nick immediately puts his hand on her tummy and lovingly but sadly looks at her.

Serena sees Nick crouched next to June. She then goes to see the Commander to hint that she knows that June and him played Scrabble probably and that they went out to Jezebel's. Makeup was on her cloak - is that how they got past the checkpoints?

Serena forces June to come along with her on a long trip. Nick asks if they need the car and Serena says no, she has made arrangements. June watches as Serena enters a school and comes out with Hannah. June devastatingly is trapped in the car and yells out for her daughter. Serena comes back into the car and says as long as her baby is safe, so will June's.

June goes to Nick's door that evening but he is not home. She cries and goes to open the package. It contains letters of handmaids looking for their children.

June hears three bells the next morning and knows there is a salvaging. She gets going and they find out it is Janine who is to be killed for child endangerment. Everyone collectively decides not to stone her after one girl protests.

Back home, June sees the black vehicle. Nick comes up and enters the room first. He whispers to just go with them, trust him. June is taken away into the black van to her punishment.
