It's MUCH better than what everyone says it is
idekamren16 January 2018
Everyone says the beginning is pretty boring and it is, but that can be easily solved with the lets reads on Youtube. starting in Act 3 you can have a blast reading the comic. It gets better the more further you go in the comic if you exclude the first act of Act 6, except that can be also solved with the lets reads. For 95% percent of the story will be entertaining.

PLus the most diverse cast in a while

This brings back so much memories!

This brings back so many memories, I love the fans who found this. I hear that the opening is floating around on Youtube, with some beautiful music. I think the opening theme was called either Skies of Skaia, Beatdown, Ohgodwhat, Revelawsome, or White. Either way, it was beautiful to watch, to listen, and to geek out about. I really met some cool people in the Omegapause. Even though we all went crazy. -_-

Nice plot and a colorful cast of characters

I love this comic and it's characters. The only things holding it back from 5 stars is some of the writing and how some characters were handled, like how I can't remember a time that john was plot relevant since act 3, AND HE'S THE PROTAGONIST! But other then that I have no issues with the webcomic. Homestuck will forever be a classic and I am trying to cram in as many references as possible into my vocabulary.

This is the best thing ever.

Warning: Spoilers
I do not know what I can even say about this that wasn't already said.

This is easily my favorite work of art ever made, for reasons that far surpass what I could possibly explain in this here review. I love everything about it, it is funny as only itself could be, it's deeply emotional, I love the aesthetic, the soundtrack, the tone, the story, the creativity, the characters, the villains, the flashes, the arcs, the everything; I could talk about this webcomic for ages, but needless to say, it is just the thing I like most in the world, by far. And that is final.

Edit: Oh God, it's even better a second time.

Since i suppose i must add more substance to this humble review, here are some scattershot thoughts: Dave is Great, just in general.

Everyone is funny, and they all get their turn to shine.

The visuals are impressive considering the time and resources involved.

I love the trolls.

I love Caliborn.

I love HIC.

I love Jade.

I love Act 1 and act 2, 3, 4, especially 5 and i also love act 6, act 7 is great.

In short, i just adore this chaotic, hilarious, surrealist, extremely self-deprecating but weirdly self-aggrandizing fever nightmare on acid of a mythical post-modern epic.

please don't subject yourself to this

Warning: Spoilers
At the beginning of the comic i was really into it, but it fell apart as soon as act 5 arrived (the trolls' first onscreen appearance) i eventually warmed up to all of the trolls...but then most of them are killed off before they get a chance to get developed. Once you get to know the characters that aren't dead they throw in another 16 characters in act 6, + way more side characters that have much more relevance than necessary

homestuck embodies pure self indulgence, there's little to no consistency, mechanics are introduced and forgotten about at the drop of a hat. Some characters die and come back to life many times while some stay dead for the whole rest of the comic. It's an absolute grumblefuck...i don't think the plot is confusing like people claim, but i can't deny it's really convoluted.
