touching end to a very solid season
jonthevicker11 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Season 5 provided a completely different story line to the rest of the shows previous seasons. Taking place over 3-4 days, it covers the multiple stories of all the inmates inside Litchfield Penitentiary. The finale begins with the abrupt invasion from the SWAT team, instantly capturing Abdullah and electrifying Janae. Following the capture of Piscatella, Alex, Piper, Red, Frieda and Blanca remain in the old pool, a secret location customized by Freida as an emergency shelter. Pennsatucky remains in Donuts house watching events on the TV. Leanne and Angie look for one last high before the fun ends. Nicky and Lorna bid farewell. Everyone has a story line, and the show does a good job in bringing all the characters story arcs to an end with the right amount of screen time to each. The most notable events occur near the end, when a cured Susanne along with Black Cindy and Taystee join the rest in the pool. Upon seeing Piscatella, Taystee steals Friedas gun and threatens to kill him, blaming him for Pousseys death. While this unfolds beneath the prison, all the other inmates are escorted on to two buses, being notified that 'they'll never be let back in there again.' Flaca and Mariza, possibly due to them standing side by side, are divided into opposite queues, meaning they will be sent to different facilities. Taste fails to shoot Piscatella, and Red frees him. As he leaves however he is mistakenly shot by a member of the SWAT team. The SWAT team blow open the doors, and the season ends, after the remaining inmates hold hands and accept their fate.

Season 5 has been the most action packed season yet, and the finale continued this trend along with bucket loads of emotion. A partial cliffhanger leads us all waiting desperately for Season 6 next June.

Great finale to a great series
Dannyboi9422 June 2017
Orange is the new Black season 5 has had a lot of mixed reviews from a lot of fans, I can slightly see why, but this was a darn good season. Sure, one of the major issues is that they keep the rioting on for the entire 13 episodes, and it felt like they were just trying to keep the series on for as long as they could by just chucking everything at you.

There are several issues with this series, one being its overly SJW. Yeah the previous seasons have been a little like this, but this time it was ridiculous. Ever so often you would hear a lesbian bash the patriarchy, or someone throw the 'white privilege' crap at you. The other major issue is with the prison guards. While watching them I felt irritated, which is on the writers part. Seriously some of these guards are huge, muscular and have had military careers, and they get overpowered by skinny women? That would not happen at all. But most of it is played off as comedy, so while you moan at it being cheesy, you laugh at the same time. Also, there is a part earlier on in this episode, where several of the guards are betting on taking high heels, and one of them objects complaining about making women sexulized or something like that - can't quiet remember, but then several episodes later, you have a prison guard being forced to perform a sexy dance to a bunch of wooing prisoners - bit hypocritical.

But that is the only issues I had with this season, other than that it has been great, with brilliant new characters added with interesting backstories - and finally! After two seasons, we finally get to see more into Pipers backstory, and it was good to see Larry again, even though it was only a small cameo. I think the best characters this time around were Piscatella, Reznikov and of course Crazy Eyes. They are given some of the best moments in the entire series, and their acting, especially Crazy Eyes, is award worthy.

This finale was the best episode this season, and was filled with emotional tension, and ended on a great cliffhanger, making you long for the next season.

8.4/10 best season since season 2.

This episode can be called the good ending of a bad season.

Orange is the New Black Season 5 Episode 13

Review : I really liked the first episode when it started. Then slowly the episodes started getting boring and slow. Then slowly I didn't want to watch the episodes but still I watch every episode and today I watched this last episode. I have no hesitation in saying that this episode is the best episode in the whole series.

Acting : Everyone did good acting.

Direction : The director of this episode has done a pretty good job.

Story : The writers wrote the story in the last episode of this series well enough and intelligently. This episode finally ended the single sterilization of this series. The authors removed some of the characters from this series forever.

Dialogue : Fairly Good.

Background Score : Not a very good and not a very bad.

Soundtrack : Good enough.

Cinematography : Good

Editing : Good

Lighting : Good

Overall Episode : Judging by all, I gave this episode nine stars out of ten.

Eat your heart out, Tom Fontana
superbluenoser15 August 2017
These writers know how to do a prison riot. Lasting the whole season with plenty of plot twists and drama. OZ had the potential to do a great riot, but sadly, Fontana dropped the ball, making it only last a single episode with a single episode follow-up.

Kudos, OITNB writers. Kudos!

Just a season dragged too long
detlic24 April 2021
This season could have been 5 episodes long, or maybe even less... Very uneven episode quality.

Endless dialogues that look more like monologues on topics that are obvious, already clear or established. A lot of unnecessary side stories that mostly don't have relevance in story or character arcs. Just causes a feeling of boredom and desire to skip certain parts... Too bad, a great story could have been told from these events...

CO Bayley did not murder that inmate!
coltsw-108032 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First off, CO Bayley did not have the INTENT to kill an inmate, yet the clowns who wrote this trash don't understand how CRIMINAL INTENT is a key element in the commission of MURDER. The person most responsible for that death was the other inmate (Crazy Eyes, one of my favorites) who was unlawfully attacking the guard while he was trying to justifiably restrain the inmate, who then suffocated as a result. The whole weepy nonsense of Bayley trying to deal with being a "murderer" was just idiotic, fake and stupid.

The entire riot shouldn't have lasted more than two or three episodes. There were a lot of ridiculous and unrealistic situations. It was so tedious. This show should've ended after Season 3. The entire season is the riot! It got old quick. And there has never been a riot in a women's minimum security correctional institution. This show used to be very good. It now stinks.

Rebellion in the empty pool
gedikreverdi8 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this situation would last for a couple of episodes but the entire season is about this rebellion. It's not bad but this might be my least favorite season so far. Tif is the only one who fled and staying in the house in the woods with his guard lover. The police shot dead the sadistic giant. They are being transferred to a another prison.
