Orange Is the New Black: Storm-y Weather (2017)
touching end to a very solid season
Season 5 provided a completely different story line to the rest of the shows previous seasons. Taking place over 3-4 days, it covers the multiple stories of all the inmates inside Litchfield Penitentiary. The finale begins with the abrupt invasion from the SWAT team, instantly capturing Abdullah and electrifying Janae. Following the capture of Piscatella, Alex, Piper, Red, Frieda and Blanca remain in the old pool, a secret location customized by Freida as an emergency shelter. Pennsatucky remains in Donuts house watching events on the TV. Leanne and Angie look for one last high before the fun ends. Nicky and Lorna bid farewell. Everyone has a story line, and the show does a good job in bringing all the characters story arcs to an end with the right amount of screen time to each. The most notable events occur near the end, when a cured Susanne along with Black Cindy and Taystee join the rest in the pool. Upon seeing Piscatella, Taystee steals Friedas gun and threatens to kill him, blaming him for Pousseys death. While this unfolds beneath the prison, all the other inmates are escorted on to two buses, being notified that 'they'll never be let back in there again.' Flaca and Mariza, possibly due to them standing side by side, are divided into opposite queues, meaning they will be sent to different facilities. Taste fails to shoot Piscatella, and Red frees him. As he leaves however he is mistakenly shot by a member of the SWAT team. The SWAT team blow open the doors, and the season ends, after the remaining inmates hold hands and accept their fate.
Season 5 has been the most action packed season yet, and the finale continued this trend along with bucket loads of emotion. A partial cliffhanger leads us all waiting desperately for Season 6 next June.
Narcos: Our Man in Madrid (2016)
Carrillo Is Back
The introduction answers a question that many people have been wondering; why would anyone sign up to be a police officer? The suspense carries on from the aftermath of the episode 2 ending, and we see a fan favourite return: Carrillo!
Wagner Moura continues his breathtaking performance as the unstable drug trafficker and yet gentle father figure. Carrillo is back and one of his opening scenes reminds us of how ruthless he can be. Killing the child and later throwing the two people out of the helicopter was just crazy! Tata's character is turning a lot stricter as she discovers Carrillo's return.
Limón is currently my favourite new character but his character hardly gets much screen time in this episode with La Chica hunting down his friend.
Pablo asks a favour from an old contact, Valeria Velez, which sounds like it will be able to propose a real problem in the near future. The ending with Steve calling Connie gave me chills as once again the music / score is outstanding in this show.
Our Man In Madrid is a slower paced episode but still provide enough shocks to carry the suspense and thrill all throughout the episode. A very strong episode.
