Tanya Tate as a fake-exorcist who can barely keep a straight face is the highlight (or low-light depending upon one's Camp receptivity) in Stills & Mills' almost weird compilation "A Mother's Prayer". I'm easy to ignore as their only vocal critic out there in video-land, but ignore my constructive criticism at one's peril.
Two-parter title vignettes star a very obscure performer Kobe Lee, whose WASPy look defies that unfortunate stage name. Yes, I'm always fooled and misled, so my hopes of seeing a brand-new successor to the great Miko Lee were dashed when the plain-Jane long-in-the tooth Ms. Lee trotted out an absence of acting (and dialog-delivering) skills as luscious Trinity St. Clair's mama. Though a pixie, Trinity even has bigger breasts than her old lady.
Gimmick is that Kobe is religious while daughter Trinity is a precocious slut. Producer Bree and director Alan must have thought it was a hoot on the set to see Trinity seducing her strait-laced mom for the inevitable incest angle, but this is one of the least convincing, both in premise and execution, seductions I've ever seen. Claiming to have a demon inside her, Trinity gets ma to insert her fingers and later tongue in the youngster's vagina in an effort to drive out the dark spirit, the height of silliness.
For Part 2 Lee calls in "reinforcements" from her church, in the form of Tanya Tate, certainly a porn legend and obviously inappropriate for this role. Led by Tate the cast is soon screaming at the top of their lungs in imitation of the classic Max Von Sydow exorcism scene involving little Linda Blair in "The Exorcist", but what we get is just a lesbian threesome augmented by dildos. At the end of it all Tate reveals she's not from the church but rather a local lesbian crusader, and clearly Mama Kobe is a new convert to the Sapphic fold.
The other three segments do not rise to the campy level of these Trinity shenanigans, but are worth noting in passing. "Babysitter's Playtime" has Tate playing a different role, more innocent (using the term only in a relative sense) as the lady of the house about to head out for the evening, while new sitter Allie Rae is to take charge. Rae is much in demand in porn these days, as the slim blonde is jail-bait personified.
She gets to dominate the screen with a lengthy masturbation solo, on the phone with her pal Riley (not shown but clearly meant to represent superstar Reid) doing phone sex and pretending that Riley is "mommy". Culprit this time is young Rebel Lynn, one of innumerable young ladies who have wandered into porn with no distinguishing characteristics from which a career might be fashioned.
