I caught this film on the Criterion Channel, FYI. The official Criterion description is: "Sky Hopinka combines audio recordings of his father with increasingly abstract video images of the landscapes they separately traversed. 'Jáaji' is a near translation for directly addressing a father in the Hocak language." (There's supposed to be a carrot over that letter c.)
While I can't claim to understand even a fraction of the cultural context of this film, it is thought-provoking and compelling, visually striking, and beautiful to look at and listen to.
