Riveting and disturbing.

Warning: Spoilers
I was upset that my wife discontinued my recordings of Joe Kenda shows in favor for the Boy's Mickey Mouse show and i had nothing to watch as i slowly drink beer on a Saturday night. Cozi stopped playing Fantasy Island reruns , my TV life is going to hell but i found this show. I watched the whole episode in suspense. It was enveloping.

So this Girl meets a dude at some karate like class and they fall instantly for each other. I thought at first that it was going to be a black guy white girl forbidden racist relationship but it wasn't, the problem is her dad is this Egyptian dude that prides family honor and is planning his two daughters arranged weddings, and he has her arranged to some 47 year old dude in Egypt. (her mom was 15 when dad married her according to story) so she has to hide the fact she is seeing this guy. He is very tolerant boyfriend and deals with it. Eventually she is caught by Dad, tries to lie about it, and gets away with it but admits it is a lie in a car he bugged and Dad pulls out the gun. Finally after a while and you sitting at the edge of your seat saying "just leave" her mother agrees to drive them to an aunts house 350 miles away. Everyone is happy, but mom is a wimp and answers an enraged Dads call and tells everyone they have to go back to the neighbor hood to decorate a dead grandmas grave. And they cant wait til morning, we just arrived after a 4-5 hour trip, now we have to go back. no one questions this. seemed odd. Then mom says when almost back home, "we're going to see your father who forgives us and is totally cool". THe girls know they will be killed, and instead of strangling mom, or jumping out of the car etc, go back home and are eventually killed. Before she goes in , the girlfriend calls the boyfriend and tells him its all over and she has to do this, He's like "run don't do it" but she wont listen for some reason. If i was her , i 'd kill myself to make it even more awkward for Dad to tell the arranged marriage dude what happened. Which is more awkward now that i think about it "hey, i killed your future wife cause she disrespected me and the family honor" or "she killed herself cause she was ticked off i set her up with you". Either way this episode leaves you horrified at the conditions the women in this family lived in. I thought the boyfriend would be dead too because you never see real him interviewed but hes probably still sick to his stomach ten years later. Oh by the way, the scumbag dad is still on the loose. Probably a hero in Egypt.

No sympathy

Warning: Spoilers
Basically this episode tells the story of how an entire family failed to help a little girl who's father expressively stated he was going to kill. There were multiple chances and opportunities to prevent her death and no one took it. Not her family, not her boyfriend, no one.
