Bojack Season 3, Episode 3
Seras1112327 April 2021
Even an amazing show like Bojack can have batches of lesser episodes. This is one of them. What we get amounts to an okay filler episode. Not too far in, it gets side-tracked by an irrelevant murder mystery plot? Nobody asked for this, and nobody wanted it. And the B-Plot sucks. They waste an entire day because of a mistake Mr. Peanutbutter made. It's there so characters besides Diane/Bojack can do something and to remind us they still exist. We get it, show. Besides the first S3 episode, not a lot has been dealing with how Bojack will move forward after his New Mexico slip up. Just showing us the latest things he's up to. But as you can probably see, the rating trends upwards severely for the next episode. So things will get better. Just a writer's block streak. All writers get them.

Instills Doubt in the New Season
borowiecsminus26 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
"Yikes" was what I thought when I finished this episode. Why? Because I feared for the life of the third season. Granted, one episode later, it redeemed itself in a landslide, but at this point, the third season looked grim. This episode was entirely filler. And I mean entirely. There were absolutely no plot advancements whatsoever. And sometimes that's okay. That's okay it situational comedies. Bojack Horseman, however, is not a situational comedy. It's a serial comedy.

And it wasn't even the good filler. For instance, the very second episode of the show, "Bojack Hates the Troops," was also filler. And yet, it was a fantastic episode. Because it was edgy, it was pointed, sharp, incredibly intelligent, and had a point to make. This episode is none of those things. The humor is ABC-worthy. And no, that isn't a compliment.

I know the season gets amazing just one episode later, but that doesn't make this episode any less bad.

Good episode, but

It felt (very) rushed. I think it should have been 2 episodes. It also had another minor issues but overall pretty enjoyable.

A great episode with a superb ending

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know how an episode with such an ending can be considered lesser than the others. I found it superb.

" -I wrote a bunch of hit movies, I made a ton of money, but it wasn't fulfilling.

I remember when I won my Oscar, standing up on that stage, looking at the statue and thought, "This is supposed to be the happiest moment of my life." And I never felt more miserable.

-Everyone was worried about you, you know. You can't just disappear. You really hurt a lot of people.

-Sometimes you need to take responsibility for your own happiness.

-You don't think that's a little selfish?

-I don't know what to tell you. I'm happy, for the first time in my life. I'm not gonna feel bad about it. "

Solid showbiz satire with good character moments
snoozejonc10 March 2024
Bojack is implicated in the death of a whale.

As always the dialogue is funny and has serious messages underlying the humour. The scenes in the lapdancing club are full of dark humour and commentary on the exploitation of dancers. I also like the Oscar related politics and general send up of the PR techniques associated with BoJack's celebrity profile.

My favourite scenes by far involve the police as for me they have the funniest material. I love the banter and the general silliness of their attitude when dealing with crime.

It finishes with an interesting short dialogue exchange between characters that hints at possible character development.

For me it's a 7.5/10 but I round upwards.

My pick for most underrated episode of Bojack
cmadsen-6014517 July 2023
Bojack kills is a phenomenal episode. Diane and Bojack get thrown back together, fibd themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, and end up trying to solve a murder mystery. We see Bojack's press tour, meet Goober and WhaleWorld, and learn about Bojack's relationship with Cuddlywhiskers. The one-liners and social commentary connect (see Diane's NPR ringtone, which I would figuratively kill for), and the episode ends with philosophical reflections on meaning and what it means to have a good life. While the first two episodes setup what's to come for the season, Bojack Kills gets things right into gear before he heads underwater.
