- TriviaThe episode title is Spanish for "Of the Innocents."
- GoofsMae manages to ruin And Then There Were None by giving away the killer, while also getting the ending completely wrong. The Mark of Cain is not a real thing, it isn't a mark someone can get or leave, and has nothing to do with the Agatha Christie novel. Possibly Mae has confused it with the Bible or an episode of Supernatural.

"Perfect order is the forerunner to perfect horror"
The first spin off to one of my personal favourites was a big disappointment and never really got off the ground, despite improving from very poor to mediocre very late into the run. 'Beyond Borders' had potential to be better with Gary Sinise and Alana De La Garza on board, but with its preachy writing, objectionable stereotyping and that it has all the faults of 'Suspect Behaviour' but makes them worse it managed to be even worse.
"De Los Inocentes" is better than the previous episode "Citizens of the World", which went back to the awful quality seen in the first four episodes instead of continuing the very minor improvements seen in "The Lonely Heart" and "Love Interrupted". Still found it very poorly done with none of the flaws seen in the previous episodes corrected, though not executing them quite as badly. That this is the second half of Season 1 and the low quality has not changed is really not a good sign.
Will say that knowing more about Clara was appreciated and made me feel sympathy for her, with Mexico being a poignant significance for her. Have never had a problem with Alana De La Garza as the character though do not like how she's used or what she's given to work with.
Again however, it was almost as if the improvements seen in "Love Interrupted" (Simmons' development and a slightly more coherent team dynamic) did not happen. Did not care for any of the rest of the characters and again the rest of the acting is not good. Gary Sinise is far from a bad actor (the opposite) and this should have been a role that was perfect for him, but here and throughout the show he is at his most wooden and bored. Annie Funke is stiff and lacks sensitivity and Tyler James Williams is equally annoying. Their characters play some part in why they come off poorly, Mae couldn't be more bland and her lack of sensitivity really grates, like her sarcasm and how she spoils 'And Then There Were None' for Simmons. One wouldn't mind Garcia back perhaps, because this male pale imitation is every bit as grating as Mae. The supporting cast fail to register in caricature roles.
Sadly also, the writing and story are not much better in any way, actually they're even worse. The writing actually is the component that single-handedly sinks the show on its own. Of anything on television, it is difficult to find any other show throughout its run this condescending, nobody likes being talked down to, and the cheesiness awkwardness and vagueness are present as is the insensitive stereotyping. The story generates no excitement, the suspense isn't there and it's not even that compelling or surprising. Knowing how it's all going to end is not desperately hard. There is nothing to the responsible that's interesting or menacing, just so what, or the team chemistry, which is very stiff and cold overall. The methods they do in solving the case are not prominent enough and are not developed well at all.
Even the production values are not very good. The way it's shot and edited is incredibly choppy, with it being incredibly obvious when stock footage is used, and completely lacks atmosphere or a sense of mood, either being overly-bright or drab. The music is also annoying, it is too loud and too constant with not a sign of a break and with the subtlety of a sledgehammer, it also does not fit at all (a lot of it is misplaced actually) as well as cheap and out of date.
All in all, poorly done though not quite one of the season's or show's worst. 2/10
