about an age. about solitude. about love who could seems like obsession. about happiness. and, maybe, about art. a young man. and an older. a bar. and drawings. the essence of story escaping to define it. because, in fact, all is so simple. jealousy, phantasm and refuge in art. and the new beginning. far to be special, it is an interesting film. like a puzzle with many pieces, recreating strange pictures. so, a short film about love. or, maybe, only about grow up.

Tries to be a decent character study, but comes pretty short

Warning: Spoilers
"Volg mij" or "Follow Me" is a Belgian Dutch-language live action short film from 2015 and this 16-minute movie was written and directed by Anthony Schatteman. I don't really think the direction is the problem with this one, but rather the script and story which feels extremely shallow even for such a brief running time. Admittedly, the long still shots aren't very creative either. There isn't a single area I guess in which the film really sucks and truly disappoints, but there is absolutely nothing that stands out either and I am pretty sure without certain people's obsessions with gay-themed (short) films I am pretty sure that this one would have been overseen and ignored completely now. But it is what it is. It made it to Boys on Film, the neverending series of gay-themed short film collections. This one is neither among the weaker or better featured during this collection. But this does not mean it is good, just that the general level is fairly weak. the actors have little to work with and cannot elevate the material either. The film clearly goes for atmosphere, but it stays a vsiion in the mind of Schatteman. It's a thumbs-down from me. Not recommended.
