Producing Schlock: The Career of Al Adamson (2009)

*** (out of 4)

This nine minute documentary features producer Samuel Sherman discussing his relationship with filmmaker Al Adamson. Sadly, this thing doesn't last very long, which is a real shame since Adamson really does need a full length documentary but if you're a fan of the director then you're still going to want to watch this. Sherman is always excellent in interviews or commentaries so listening to him talk is never a bad thing. He discusses the making of films like Dracula VS FRANKENSTEIN, THE NAUGHTY STEWARDESSES and SATAN'S SADISTS as well as others. What Sherman does so well is makes you understand that these cheap films managed to make a killing back in the day and that they were simply delivering films to the market that needed stuff like these films. He also talks about why drive-ins are fading into the background and while movies like these just can't be made anymore.
