Ridiculous cherry Atop A ridiculous cAke
philneil30 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The series has had it's bizarre moments over the past 20 years (seems like it) but this grand finale was, without a doubt, a total slap in the face for loyal, avid viewers waiting to see (finally!) who AD was.

It is so pack-jammed full of exposition and, once watched, you will understand why.

This double-episode finale had quite a few questionable facets - like the new generation of PLLs, seriously - no one cares. Also making Troian do a Dick Van Dyke impersonation was totally distracting and totally unnecessary.

All-in-all this ending could have been filled with much much more.

Lot of unanswered questions and plot holes
monica_sayegh28 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
First I'm going to start with the things I liked in this episode. I am honestly satisfied with the AD reveal and It was way better than the Cece one. The scene were Spencer thought that she was looking in the mirror but suddenly realized that it wasn't her is amazing and shocking and very well played by Troian. I also liked It when they replayed old songs they used before like the one when Aria was crying and the one when Spencer and Toby saw each other. Plus I had no problem with all the original couples ending up together although it was a bit cheesy, but the fans deserve it. And the appearance of Marlene was funny. But sadly they barely answered our questions. What's Bethany Young's story line? Why we've never seen her face when she was older? How did she know Ali and Ali never mentioned it? What was Sara Harvey's A motive? Why did she leave her life, friends and family to go and help Cece? And why they never mentioned her death? What happened to Eddy Lamb? And how did he recognize Aria in Radley? And why did he leave Bethany's drawings on Ezra's doorstep? Plus there's tons of questions that Alison could've answered about her secrets before she disappeared like what happened to her when she thought she was pregnant and a lot more I can't remember now. In a nutshell, I love the show and the actors but I was disappointed.

Quite disappointing
bion_marysa28 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
OK, so I'm almost 34 and French, which means that I was already 27 when it started. Not quite the targeted audience, right? But still, I got hooked from the beginning and I was really looking forward to this ending. I've even been defending the show since the first episode saying "Yes, they are still in high school and it's not very realistic, but there's more to this show than just another teen plot." I was not that wrong... till the end. Why is I. Marlene King so obsessed with twins? Allison and Emily getting twin girls, Jessica and Mary, now Spencer and Alex, please make it stop! This is so easy and not believable at all. OK, twins run in the family, which explains Allison's twins as they're all family in the end, but why so many evil twins all of a sudden? It's like she thought she found something "good" and couldn't stop using it. The idea was not that bad but I would have liked to see more of Alex's appearances, like how many times did she really replace Spencer?Where was the real Spencer during those times? It should have been more focused on AD and how she managed to take Spencer's place. And what about the fake British accent? I really love Troian Bellisario and her acting, but that was pretty bad. The ultimate frustration for me was obviously the very end and Mona's fake French trip. This was so full of clichés!! What about the "béret"?? Seriously?? Have you ever been to France? And that accent, for God's sake! I couldn't have gotten a word of what she said without the subtitles. That was really disappointing. I still love the show and I still admire the writing and the acting, but this end won't stay in memories, or maybe for bad reasons. Nothing's pretty and little anymore.

Lazy ending writing
Ryden12328 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
7 seasons, 160 episodes, and AD turns out to be a character that never existed during any of those episodes. Invented in the series finale. A character that was never there and just made up as an out for the writer in the finale. Yes, there were hints there was a twin. I liked that idea getting some attention, but not like this.

There are plot holes galore, and questions all the way back from the very beginning of the series that have never been answered. Speaking of which, I would have liked AD to be connected to what happened in season one. Bring it full circle. I would have loved a shocking devastating twist. Instead we got a recycled thing that was batted about on the net as one of the many possibilities. Yawn.

The first hour of the finale was a bore-fest. Instead of continuing off, it jumped forward a year. I loved the fast pace of the previous episode. This was so dull and boring.

Bottom line, no shocking twist, and a lazy resolve as to who AD was. The pacing was dull, and had useless stuff like the Addison and her friends scenes. Like who cares? A disappointing ending to a show that was milked to death. Must have paid good. I will never watch anything by this writer ever again. To me, a trust was broken with the viewers whom after staying loyal for the entire run, deserved better.

Worst finale ever
sophb328 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
So I started watching PLL when it first came out and loved it - I was a lot younger and thought it was great!

As I've gotten older and continued watching it I grew to dislike it however curiosity got the better of me and I just had to know how they were going to round this all off. They said they would reveal who A was and then I could wash my hands of this messy show. Then they milked it for 2 more season with AD..

I have wasted hours of my life just trying to find out who is who and why I am doing this to myself. Finally the finale comes along (and lets hope this is really it, no reunions or poor comebacks like Gilmore Girls did..).

First of all, an evil twin.. A British evil twin.. With the worst British accent since Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Did the writers just not care by the end? Was this really the plan all along? It felt like they dipped their hand in a box full of cliché, laughable endings and this is what they're stuck with.

I feel insulted as a viewer that they think this is worth the 7 years of torture and cliffhangers. I remember watching the season 1 finale and being distracted for days just thinking about that it was Mona. Where is that feeling for this? This was meant to be the finale of all finales and I feel disappointed and deflated.

There are so many things unexplained. And why does all of the characters need to have such cliché endings, married, having kids etc. Can't one of them branch out and do something with their lives..

What happened to Wren?? He's a diamond now. A literal diamond.

Another underground bunker to hold people in - how original.

You're telling me Alex did all this just so she would be accepted and have friends.. But she was trying to pull them all apart and get them put in jail?! I don't understand any of this and how it leads up to this..

Why would Mona wear a Melissa mask? Is that just a pathetic excuse of a twist for the viewers? Trying to spice up what is the plainest of finales - compensate for the utter disappointment they have written.

Also the writer Marlene pops up at the end as the wedding photographer - ooo her phone went off in the ceremony, is that ABCDEF the new villain texting them for the next 70 series.. Girl, you ain't Quentin Tarantino or Stan Lee, get off my screen.

ALSO - my last breath of this rant - why start up another set of girls doing the same thing.. Do not do this. If the writers can't even do the original right, why try with a spin off?

Basically if I could turn back time and tell my younger self to switch that TV off and just not bother, I would.

Interesting ending
curtish280913 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I can understand why people were annoyed/mad about the ending. Spencer has a British twin! But Troian delivered it well & it was good to get some closure. Not the worst ending to a show but an ending is an ending

Ok Everybody, Improv!
billricetmazwp18 April 2018
I have waited nearly a year to write this review because it has taken me so long to come to terms with how poorly this finale was executed. However, I do not believe the problem is with this finale by itself. I think the real problem started with the Pilot episode. I Marlene King started this show without actually knowing how it was going to end -- big mistake! To tell a story, you must know the end first so you know how to write a plot that will get you there. We know this is true because the series just went on and on in so many different directions, and took true fans around in circles.

Lets see, we had twins with Mary & Jessica, Emily & Allison's children, and now Spencer & Alex. YAWN.

Anyone else would have made a better AD than Alex Drake. Melissa Hastings was always my favorite recurring character. Everyone who is anyone knows that Melissa Hastings should have been Uber A. Period. At a minimum, Melissa Hastings should have been the Black Widow revealed in 6x10 "Game Over Charles", but instead it was Sara Harvey (insert eyeroll). I have loved this show since day one, so I will never forgive the directors for not giving Melissa Hastings a larger role. Mona wearing the Melissa mask was cringe worthy. Wren would have also made a great AD. I would have also been fine if Jenna was AD. Actually, I would have even been satisfied if they just brought the whole show in full circle by making Allison Uber A. Why? BECAUSE WE'VE KNOWN THESE CHARACTERS. And not only that, they were all in the pilot. Sigh.

The shows direction was not clear since day one, so all the great recurring characters like Melissa, Wren, Jenna & Lucas never had the chance to be Uber A because the directors just winged it the whole way through. Torrey Devitto and Julian Morris moved on to other projects and tv shows, they didn't have time to wait around for Pretty Little Liars to ask for them back. Sorry Marlene. You're that manager who wants them to stick around part time when they have already found a full time job.

This series finale had more plot holes than swiss cheese. You mean to tell me, that Spencer had an evil twin living in the United Kingdom, worked as a bartender, found out about her and her friends, met Cece Drake, and got jealous and loathed the girls for their perfect lives? Then, when Cece was murdered, she traveled to Rosewood to avenge her death, took on the role of AD, created an intricate board game that looked like it was designed by federal intelligence agency and built a sophisticated underground lair to hold people prisoner when she kidnapped them? Really? Why was Ezra down there? Oh and Alex killed Wren and turned him into a piece of jewelry. No one knows why, she just did. Alex Drake did not have the means or motive to do any of these things.

None of this connected all of the seasons together. This was supposed to fill in all of the plot holes created in earlier seasons, but it did not do that. I almost feel like the entire 7th season (or a good portion of it) should have been devoted to filling in the plot holes from previous seasons. Season 7 more or less should have been the conclusion chapter...how do the dots connect? They just kept going with more story-line, and at some point we've had enough story, now we just need the chapter that brings it full circle and explains everything. Having Mary be Spencers real mom was so extra.

Oh and I'm supposed to believe that the girls had to play that mastermind board game to lead them to AD, but it took a horse and Jenna Marshall's nose less than a minute to figure out Alex was not Spencer. Gagging.

The first hour was a snooze fest. The wine moms recalled their experience getting trapped in the basement, yet it was still unclear how they got out. "I call shotgun...watch it!" Aria got married. For a while I thought AD stood for "Aria's Dress" -- what the hell was that thing? By the way, what was that circus show in the beginning where Lucas was in a top hat and Jenna was on a horse?

The only good part of this episode is at the very end, we see the "police officer" Mona called was not really a cop. He was Mona's French boyfriend, and he helped her capture AD and Mary DiLaurentis so she could hold them captive in her dollhouse. Never change Mona.

Overall, this finale was horrible, and I'll never forget it. This show had so much potential, but the ending was one of the worst I have ever seen. And lets talk about that spinoff at the end. "Have you guys seen Addison? I've looked everywhere, I thought I heard a scream". Yeah ok, good luck girls, CLICK!

The End
bobcobb3013 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Pretty Little Liars is a show that forever changed television. It brought back the teen drama concept and led to a surplus of mystery and youth-oriented novels to head to the tube in adaptations.

The finale started off really strong. The first hour was typical series finale stuff, a few memories, some emotional moments, even mocking past mistakes, like the mothers not wanting to acknowledge how they got out of the basement.

The second half bordered on absurd at times, resorting to the ultimate cliché of an evil twin and Toby not knowing who to shoot, but there really was no way to end it. Just like you couldn't satisfy everyone with the A reveal, you weren't going to satisfy everyone with AD.

At least the episode was exciting top to bottom. It could have been better, I didn't care for them teasing a next generation with "Addison" missing, or Alex and Mary being held hostage forever, but these are minor complaints.

Enjoyable and it will make me miss the show for sure.

Good finale, but felt a bit rushed
scottman-476012 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The finale was exciting, had many plot twists that you'd expect from PLL, had some satisfying character moments, and overall left a positive feeling for viewers about where the characters ended up.

My only criticism is that the finale seemed rushed. AD was the character at the core of pretty much every conflict that occurred over the course of the last two seasons of PLL, and within one episode, we were introduced to AD, learned everything about AD, and said goodbye to AD. We came into this episode knowing nothing about AD's identity or background, only to see the entire development of her character unfold and our entire understanding of Spencer's family get flipped upside down all in the last episode of the series. It is very unlike PLL to confine a huge plot point to just one episode, and the fact that it was the finale just left something to be desired. It almost made the writing of the finale seem lazy, even though you can tell from all of the flashbacks to earlier events that the writers had an idea all along of how it would end; they just may not have portrayed it on the screen as well as they could have.

Overall, it was an entertaining finale and I do think everything revealed about AD made sense; it was just a bit rushed.

Worst TV Series Finale Ever!!!!! (Contain Spoilers)
JohnnySlayer28 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER: Call me a hater all you want, but this ending to a decent show was ridiculous. This episode was unoriginal and stupid. Like a twin sister, seriously? The most unoriginal part about this episode is where both Spencer and her twin get in a fight and it results them getting aimed with gun by Toby. He has trouble figuring out which one is the real Spencer. Oh my God can the writers come up with something original?

Great episode. Honestly don't understand all of the hate it is getting.
prettylittleflash28 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I really liked the episode. If you have read the books then you know the finale played tribute to it with the twin reveal. It's been quite obvious since the beginning of the season that Spencer had a twin. Every one got their happy ending with their significant others and Mona got her happy ending by continuing the game by keeping Alex & Mary in her version of the dollhouse in France. Honestly there was no way Marlene could make every single fan happy with the A reveal. Everyone had their own theories on who "A" was and how they wanted the show to win. Even if the show went a different way and someone else was "A" people would still complain. I have watched this show since season 2 and I'm happy with how it ended.

A satisfying if not a great conclusion to the series
parthpant1930 December 2017
So PLL has finally ended after 7 long seasons with a finale that we had been waiting for. ......

The 80 minute run time was great and I really felt the show winded up many of its characters pretty well and although there were hell lot of sex-scenes and it did get a little cringe inducing at times--it was still okay. The final scene with the Liars reuniting was also satisfying and that time I really felt that I was going to miss this show. It was a little cheesy but who are we fooling ? PLL has always been about cheesiness.

The big AD reveal was kind of disappointing. I Marlene was planning for a shocking revelation but ended being totally non-sense. There were many answers that were left unresolved.

But the episode as a whole did convey the sense of completeness that I was hoping for. Janel Parrish was amazing in this episode and she is really one of the best part of the show.......

Overall it was a satisfying conclusion that could have been so much better!

Exactly what it should be
quinnchristianwilson9 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's possibly the worst series finale I've ever seen. We have a British twin, random off screen killings, more grown women trapped in dollhouses, uncomfortable mother daughter dynamics, zero lesbian chemistry, and I LOVED IT!

As an example, Pretty Little Liars justified teacher/student relationships, voyeurism (hey Jason), a terribly written and misguided trans storyline for shock value, and that's just three examples, and if anyone is expecting anything more than juicy puppy trash they will be sorely disappointed.

But give me and a couple of girlfriends a bottle of wine and nothing to do? The binge watch is a campy joy, and I'm so grateful for Troian Bellisario giving her best Eliza Doolittle impressions.

It's just all so messy, and if you love it for what it is, you'll love it.

Can someone give me 7 years of my life back
brookeltaylor-2791828 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
**Spoiler** That was the worst finale i have ever seen. Someone should have given Troian lessons before she tried to do a British accent. It was horrible. Its amazing to know that you can break out of a high tech prison cell with a bobby pin. And sorry Marlene king but what on earth was with that cameo. The only good thing about the 2 HOUR episode was the last 5 mins when Mona has her crazy moment. Thank you mona for ending it on a semi high note.

Trash once again
Ultraviolenxe28 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I thought the Cece reveal was awful but this is just as bad if not worse. The fact that I wasted 7 years of my life watching a show about these girls getting attacked by Spencer's evil twin? Really? It's like that Oprah episode where everyone gets a car, except in this show everyone gets an evil twin!

The first half of the episode was just filler where everyone was getting married and having babies because that's such a simple way for the writers to convey that everyone "grew up". Just unoriginal as usual but that's Marlene for you. Then we finally get to Spencer's kidnapping, and I will admit that the scene where she thinks she;s looking at her reflection and the Spencer on the opposite end moves was a executed great. It would've been better if it was all Spencer's dream though because the reveal is just a cop-out. We've waited 7 years to figure out who was the Big A and instead of it being a character that we've known for all 7 years, the writers just throw in a new character with new plot lines and more unanswered questions. The British accent also added to how bad it all was.

Troian gave a great performance but the entire finale just fell completely flat. It was obviously rushed and not thought out whatsoever. And the fact that they recreated the first scene of Season 1 in the cabin with Addison and her "friends" almost hinting at a spin off? Yeah no thanks, never again! Can't believe a show that started off so strong has fallen this hard on its face.

worse than the how i met your mother finale (SPOILERS)
azran27 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It felt like such a cop-out, having a twin as A. They spent an hour of the finale wasting their time and gave Spencer's twin about 2 minutes of a backstory. None of our previous questions were answered, and I feel like I wasting so many years of my life on this disappointment. This was absolutely ridiculous.

Warning: Spoilers
I was so pleased with this episode! My jaw could have hit the floor when I saw that Spencer has a twin and her twin is A.D. Troian Bellisario absolutely knocked it out of the park! I love that you can go back and re-watch the last 10 episodes and find hints and clues that led to Spencer having a twin the entire time. Well done Marlene and crew! And I loved how they ended the show. The show definitely came full circle. I have watched this show since the beginning and I will miss it so much. I'm so happy with the way they ended the show. Spectacular!

Hope is just a dirty four letter word.
spencerSlaystings28 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Meaning the hope we had that the series would go out with a BANG and give us a 2-hour finale with lots of mystery, twist and turns, betrayals, and an amazing reveAl. I guess Spencer was right all along: Hope breeds eternal misery.

Two stars but only because Troian slayed and is the queen to end all queens. Writers took the easy way out with this twin storyline. They could literally have googled and come up with fan theories that were much better and with less plot holes than what we just had to witness on our screens. I feel cheated and don't feel closure, at all.

They just dropped all of the story lines they had established in S7 (the Lucas-Charles connection, Jenna being AD's minion and many more...probably) and turned one of the most intriguing (and shady) characters into a necklace...and Melissa had like two seconds of screen time? I know she has another show, but why bring her back at all if she's not relevant to the plot? What was the whole point of bringing her back? For Mona to wear her mask? Why was that even necessary...oh yeah, so everyone would think that she's AD...but then OH SHOCKER...it's a mask. Who are they trying to fool...

On top of that, Hanna, Aria and Emily played secondary roles in the finale of their own damn show. It felt like they were just there for the relationship drama... Why didn't they figure out who AD is or at least try to? Why Jenna and Toby? And after 5 minutes they find the house where Spencer and Ezra were being held captive? What, Alex was just like "you're right Mona, time for plan B (no pun intended), I am AD and I'm also Spencers twin btw, here's my secret location, come and find me"?? Yeah right, MARLENE!

I have so much more to say but I can't find the words... rant over!

The truth
brandonnaatz4 February 2023
I remember hating the reveal when the finale aired in 2017 but rewatching now I kinda love it. I think this is such a satisfying conclusion to the characters. People focus too much on the reveal and that's not the point of the show or this episode. It's all about the journey and the ride !!! Overall season 7 is in my opinion the second best season next too 2. The new mystery added with them being young adults gave the show such a fresh feel and perspective. Bravo! This will always be my favorite show! The character development was wonderful and it was a happy ending this show deserved. Everyone who rated this episode a 1 is wrong. There was so much to love about this 2 hour finale.

...Recycle Much?
jabrilaam27 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Lol no offense but the entire finale felt like one giant recycle button. The twin thing was recycled from Mary Drake and Jessica Dilaurentis. Mona going back to the dolls was recycled. Every other line they used was recycled. Hell, the entire last five minutes was recycled. So disappointed...it felt just like the "Cece is Charles" reveal, rushed, desperate, and senseless. Tragic.

what did you expect???
RavenGlamDVDCollector9 February 2021
First of all, yeah, all my predictions were wrong, and I did kinda think I had it down pat, so, okay...

As the biggest Johnny-come-lately on IMDb (with all the contemporary fairly recent TV shows) I have had to do my quote submissions for the episodes in such a way as to avoid spoilers, so I was often just on the very brink of spotting some forbidden bit of info. As for this episode, I learned that it was much loathed years ago already. Starting out on it a few days ago, I took it on as Episode 20 and 21. And this is how I will refer to it. Episode 21 has the big reveal. A.D. turns out to be Spencer's evil twin, which is like a bolt from the blue. I can very well understand why most fans find it completely unacceptable. Me myself I am SUCH a Troian fan, I just sit there amazed at what a great actress she is, the completely different look, the British accent...

Okay, people, don't tell me you expected a miracle. It would have taken, well, Divine Retribution as A or A.D. or whatever to explain the logistics of all that heavy lifting, from bodies in church towers to an extremely bulky "pin-ball machine" that disappeared and reappeared beyond what I. Marlene King could ever get away with.

And as for rubber masks of faces, they are only faces. Mona couldn't wear a Melissa mask and be Melissa, their body types are completely different. Looking like the person in this superficial way would not give you the voice of that person. How would you know what that person was going to wear that day in order to duplicate the style? I can name a hundred things that would make every episode most most most unlikely to carry off in real life. Superhuman strength and agility certainly would be a prerequisite. Nothing human.

Okay, but enough of this. Screw these realities. Did I watch for the convincing story line? Nah. I was an Ashley Benson fan from the outset, did notice Troian Bellisario, but Spencer wore such dorky clothes, especially the shoes... of course, The Raven looks at faces, and hair, Those Eyes, and Spencer is really really darling. With those long limbs pretty soon she took the lead. The five year jump, and she came back with that soft hairstyle A recent review of mine mentioned the word "huggable"... oh, oh, oh...

You get the picture. The story didn't really matter.

In all fairness, the people blasting this episode do so as a gut reaction to feeling cheated. But they had unrealistic expectations. From a show that utilizes hoodies all year round, through blazing summers? Objectively seen this is a great episode with a wonderful performance by Troian. Notice how most of the rest of the main cast were reduced to bit players in the background?

It had to be done this way. There was no other way. If Alex Drake had been introduced in the pilot, well, we'd all have known.

It's not the destination, but the journey, the ride. The crazy Hanna quotes I had the honor to post on IMDb, some of them Internet classics but not on IMDb itself...

I considered myself both a fan and an outspoken critic of the show, like in "with friends like me the show doesn't need enemies"... but you know what? Along with the DVD extras, the cast saying tearful goodbyes, damn, people, you know the rest, The Raven sat there sobbing...

Worst finale ever
xenaki_19953 July 2017
7 years we ve been waiting for this. Worse than How I met your mother and Dexter finales. It should have been one of the main characters or AT LEAST it should have given us all the answers we deserved. I give 1 star to this episode and I already changed my general review of 8 stars to 5 just for this episode.

kevinlikermat11 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Spencer has a twin!? That came out of nowhere! This show is one of the most unrealistic TV shows I've ever seen and it also includes one of the worst finales I've ever watched! I mean, this finale was worse than the Dexter finale! And also there's still so many plot holes! Seriously! This last season got me so anticipated about who A.D. after I heard from the actors that the reveal was brilliant! But how is Spencer having a twin brilliant!? It just came out of nowhere and that just goes out for poor writing!

Worst finale of any show I have seen
samraines-846822 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched every episode of pll and was extremely disappointed with this episode. Previous reveals in the show have been a little bit far fetched but this one was by far the most ridiculous and least thought out in my opinion. As a finale to the entire show it needed to answer all the questions that have arisen from the previous episodes and unfortunately this episode only created more while creating some of the biggest plot holes I have ever seen.

First off, the attempted 'English' accent was awful (In an interview with Troian Bellisario it was revealed to be an Essex accent); due to the nature of this accent it was impossible to watch this seriously and completely ruined the portrayal of Alex. In the flash back moments we were shown clips of 'Spencer' moments which turned out were actually Alex all along and they were supposed clues that Spencer had a twin sister. While I tend to like subtle clues throughout series to hint at a reveal this was a bit of a stretch. It was difficult to believe that Alex would be able to perfectly impersonate her sister well enough to convince all her closest friends having never even met her in the flesh. One scene Alex gets Wren to shoot her and the blood pack is quite obviously poking out of her top; while this isn't really a problem with the writing it should really have been done with a little more care. Alex is also somehow a master genius capable of building the most complex board game ever seen that even Caleb, a master hacker and designer of defensive systems, or Mona who we are told is also a genius couldn't crack. Whereas this would be unbelievable at best for most characters for Alex it is next to impossible. Her backstory indicates that she had no formal education as she was ditched by her parents and she worked in a bar until she met Wren. But somehow she learned how to hack and design these complex systems while also being seemingly omniscient about all the pll on goings. We then learned that she had somehow built a massive bunker without anyone knowing underneath the house Toby built which would've been a huge undertaking to do in a year even with people knowing what was going on. It then ended with Mona having apparently broken Mary-Drake and Alex out of prison so she could hold them captive again. Then we are shown the first scene from the pilot again with different girls. Aside from the Adison story line being entirely pointless this undercut the whole Alison story line. Alison was meant to be a one off, a girl that was so special and so bitchy that a TV show could be made about it. If this happens again and again what is even special about Alison.

The reveal in this episode was so dull and uninspired it ruined the entire show for me. They have already used the evil twin story line with Mary-Drake and, having the mastermind behind it only introduced to us in the final episode seemed to be a cop out so nobody would have their favourite character tarnished. Her motive for torturing the plls was also sketchy, she supposedly wanted to avenge Charlotte despite somehow already knowing that Mona had killed Charlotte. This whole episode seemed very badly thought through and unplanned even though this was Marlene King's intention since season 5.

It could've made so much sense...

But the writers were lazy and didn't have any clue about what happened in the past.
