Losing Interest
ThomasDrufke9 November 2015
I have come to now accept what this show is going to be. It's not going to be as grounded or mature as I hoped, it's got a lighthearted side that i'm not sure even Flash has at it's lightest. That's all good and dandy, but the show still has to write well developed characters. They still have to create a quality show to keep my interest, and right now, that's lacking. Again, I don't think Supergirl is a bad show as of now, it's just not all that interesting.

One of the main issues that a lot of people have had with the show is its constant reliance on the name drop of Superman. While that has definitely been warranted, I think this episode explained a lot as to how he will be used in this show. His name is just to be used as a plot device like this episode did. Like it or not, that's just what the show is. But I do believe the arc of this episode was to try and show Kara's hope for dependence from her big cousin, so I wouldn't be shocked if his presence in the show is significantly toned down.

Speaking of tone, I think all of the character's annoying quirks were toned down this episode, even the still obnoxious Cat Grant. They also did a strange thing which is make Jimmy Olsen a bit more unlikable and try to make us feel sympathy for Winn. I don't particularly care about the romances on this show, but I thought Olsen was one of the only redeemable qualities so that was a bit disappointing.

The villain of the week was reactron who didn't get much development but he was really just there to show that Kara can apparently take down someone that Superman can't. The ending moment with Kara instant messaging Clark was sweet, but I didn't really believe Superman couldn't take him down. No part of him seemed 'unstoppable'. So in all, the episode really suffered from bad writing. The jokes fall flat and I don't really see where the show is going. But it's not a bad episode because nobody annoyed me like the first two weeks. It's just not all that interesting.

+Possible closure with the Superman references

-Weak writing

-Where is the show going?

needs a lot of work.

My biggest complaint is Kara's boss Cat. Hope she is very limited. Her character is borderline retarded. I hate ever seen she is in. Do not drag out possible love with Kara and James I will quit it pretty quick.Shows have beat the possible love between two charach ters to death. Enough already. This show was little far fetched. She comes in and beats reaction something Superman could not. Give me a break. The show has possibilities. I do hope Superman shows up every blue moon. Especially if she or he are fighting a super heavy bad guy. Why wouldn't they help each other. Superman does not have to take away from Supergirl unless your writers write it that way. That is just stupid reasoning not to ever let him show up.

Very good episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is very good, the evolution of all the characters and their relationship are great, especially Kara-james. Her relationship with her sister is also what I want to see. Reactron aka dc's iron man was very cool but limited. The exposition of max lord and cat grant are great,I like their characters. Is supergirl string enough, this question around her is intriguing me,her story in parallel of Clark is cool,I dig what they want to do. The exchange via message between Clark and Kara are a very good Easter egg for the next episodes.

Please Don't Let The Love Triangle Dominate Things
slightlymad2211 January 2017
Plot In A Paragraph: Supergirl's (Melissa Benoist) powers are put to the test when one of Superman's most formidable enemies, Reactron, shows up in National City to take her down. In the meantime, Cat (The delightful Calista Flockhart) makes plans to run an expose on Supergirl.

Benoist looked more attractive in this episode. I don't know what it was, as I just found her to be a bit bland in the first two episodes.

Superman popped up in this episode (for the first time since the pilot) to save his cousin, which kind of only lessens the Supergirl character a bit. I know a lot of the plot was on Kara being dependant from her big cousin, but they need to tone down the Superman references. Though I did enjoy the email conversation between the two at the end.

It's light in tone, but the writing is a bit weak and I couldn't care any less about the Kara, Winn and James Olsen love triangle. I hope the show doesn't go down the route of having that dominate the show.

In an amusing note Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) titled her article "Millennial Falcon". In real life, Flockhart is obviously married to Harrison Ford, who played the Millennium Falcon's pilot Han Solo in Star Wars movies.

Supergirl is very hot.
startrekker_jeroen9 November 2015
This episode is even better than the previous episode supergirl is great and hot. And i can't wait for the next episode. And I hope that CBS continues to go through with this fantastic series. Finally a nice series which really appeals to me. I think it's a good thing that the creator chose sure that someone like supergirl whit superpowers is not 100% foolproof and make mistakes. What this series makes it a lot more human and clearly shows that you can learn from any mistakes and weaknesses. So I really hope that we will see a lot of more of kara aka supergirl. Because I would find it really a missed opportunity if cbs choose not to continue after this season with supergirl.

When Enemies Return To Your Door?
Jayzlow7 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Besides Melissa Benoist looking beautiful as always, I found two scenes that really bothered me this episode. One would be how a significant other shows up, but never finishes the job (taking down the bad guy all the way). That's quite unlikely, since why risk a threat to live on. This guy didn't know Supergirl would be upset over a helping hand yet. To add on, the enemy chases a guy who he doesn't know during a crucial moment. Either he didn't think anything through at all or he wasted an opportunity to finish her quickly off (which was why he went there), and chase the other guy afterwards.

If only the protagonist was less attractive, I would have stopped watching by now.
