Reviewer's notes, humbly submitted:
1. Thrilled to have another full season. Happy happy joy joy.
2. Back to basics it is. After tinkering a bit with the formula in Seasons 5 and 6, we have here an episode which would not be out of place even in Season 1. Fits like an old pair of shoes. Solid performances, writing, characterizations.
3. This reviewer cannot help but marvel at the "turnabout" in the Louisa-Martin arc. This was of course the predominant second or "long" arc for most of the series, and it worked a treat. Now, astonishingly, here is Season 7, where, using the trope of the "missed phone calls," the writers are once again getting mileage out of the mere "anticipation" of the two getting together. Who was it that said that wishing for something was more fun than actually getting what you wished for? Again, this is familiar and comfortable ground for loyal fans. Worked then, works now.
4. Great start to the season.
