rickety cricket
denniz843 March 2017
Oh man, i loved this episode, although, i think it could be better. The crossover with last episode was cool, but i would love to see what happened in the bathroom with Gay-Mac & Cricket. Although, we can imagine that of course. Anyway, next week the finale. I think this was a strong Season, better than last one.

Cricket is Aladdin
DuskShadow20 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
So I don't know why there are so many reviews for this episode, but not a one mentioned the obvious homage to Disneys Aladdin. It makes me want to really see more of Rickety Crickets life, not too much of the nasty low points, but the super hilarious possible high points that have never been seen in the show. What else does he go through in his street rat life? Lol

As a whole season 12 was terrible compared to others, with most of the episodes feeling like pale specters compared to the gems that whole other season of the show have been. Luckily this ep was one of those tie in episodes that bridged certain scenes into one and each other. Not too bad, but could have been even better. Still it was about Cricket, so what would one expect? Not too hard, not too soft. ROFLOL :P.

Umm.. what's happening? The very definition of a filler episode.

Warning: Spoilers
This season had one of the funniest episodes of all time, PTSDee, along with The Gang Goes to the Water Park, pure comedy gold, so it gave us all hope that this show is not in decline.

This episode tells another story and now I'm not sure what to think of this season.

To be fair, I'd rather have 5 crap episodes and 5 great ones than 10 okay ones, but that's just me.

Where to start?

The show's strength is... someone smarter than me called it "the Game of Thrones of comedy." That's not a reference to its quality or effect on culture. It's that it's a multi-character show, where someone does something and it has an effect on the other. Actions have consequences, intended or unintended. Finding a wallet in a bar leads to identity theft, Dennis getting off, a company getting sold, mass layoffs and a missing finger. All in one episode. Running jokes and recurring themes/characters make the story richer. It's not a show built on throwaway characters. Everything counts.

This episode, unfortunately, has a strange formula. By focusing on Cricket, we are cut off from the gang. The gang offer him a job-for-lemons deal, but that's it. The rest is linear. He gets high. He screws up. There's no twist, there's no other moving parts, you're just watching someone screw up. Where's the fun in that?

Cricket making out with a dog is not funny. I'm not disgusted but I didn't laugh. The sound he does while eating lemons got a chuckle the first time, but not after that. His family are throwaway characters - never heard about them, probably never will again.

So I didn't laugh at the jokes, fine. But where are the jokes? It's not just "failed jokes" but "no jokes" - really. Cricket gets a job. There's two action scenes where he does some street parkour stuff with backflips, etc. Two of them. There's a romantic story where he meets a girl, etc. They talk, they go on a date, etc. All this is buildup for the joke at the end. So all this time, the jokes per minute were really low. It's all buildup. But the joke at the end was so obvious. The girl named "Bell" who wears a collar bell is not a girl, but a dog.

Even if one were to find that funny, the whole episode was build up for one single joke. The rest is just family drama (dad wants his son to take over the business), romance, addict trying to kick the habit, etc.

Not for me. I give this episode a 6, but I'm biased towards this show.

On a side note, I've been telling a friend to watch this show and tried to get him to watch this one with us. Something came up and he couldn't. Glad he missed out. We showed him Charlie and Dee Find Love instead.

workit_oz14 July 2022
Holy cow I can't believe the neg reviews on this ep.

Came here to feel justified to read an 8.5 or 9 rating for the ep because I personally cracked up the whole way through only to read it got a 7ish rati g & hella neg reviews... what's wrong with u people lol Cricket & his pcp glass bbq lol back flipping over stuff like a parkour assasin lol So funny... but I knew it would be too good to be true for poor ol cricket.

Being high all the time is just his thing.

Terrible episode with continuity problems
fernando_barduchi21 January 2024
This episode shows Cricket on a new low and besides the fact that it doesn't have many funny moments. Also the whole plot of the episode didn't make much sense.

This episode has also a big continuity problem, which is the fact that Cricket had a family and they only choose to offer him help at this point of his life. Why they didn't do anything when he became homeless? He only became a drug addict after sometime living at the streets, so why not help him in the beginning, when he was still trying to get his life together?

Cricket is a good character, but his whole arc depended on the fact that he didn't have anyone to help him.

Not good.

Warning: Spoilers
By far the worst episode in the whole series. Not because the main cast are sidelined, but because of poor writing, bad acting, unfunny jokes, and the 'surprise' at the end being obvious. This episode feels lazy and underdeveloped. Cricket as a character is interesting and funny, so this being his big standalone episode feels like a let-down and a waste.

A Cricket's Tale

Warning: Spoilers
It was good to see Renee Felice Smith out of the NCIS LA Tech Room and on another show for a change. The problem is this was the third week in a row with a Cricket storyline and if there are people out there that enjoy him, I think it is small doses. The whole career for him didn't really make a lot of sense either, why would his father trust him to win over a big account?

Warning: Spoilers
There's no doubt this season has been a huge step up from the abysmal season 11. This season has regained that sunny consistency we all know and love, each week has gotten better than the last. When I saw there was a cricket centric episode, I couldn't help but have high hopes based on the strength of this season.

My expectations were not matched, this episode SUCKED...the story line with cricket was so lame, it felt extremely lazy, and it just wasn't funny. I did not laugh a single time during my viewing of this poor excuse for an episode. In the past when the gang dished out bad episodes there was at least some redeeming qualities...not with this one. Once again, it sucked.

I sure hope the gang bounces back in the season 12 finale.

I think we can all agree that this episode is one of the worst in the series. Humorless and underdeveloped.

Worst episode of series
mangino-4648217 June 2022
Favorite show of all time. Worst episode of the series. Love me some Cricket but just a dud. Only funny scene was the opening. Actress who played Belle was cute.
