This had better be left off the screens

A picture without a manufacturer's mark. It may be well to represent the practices of the church under certain occasions, including the attitude of prayer, but probably most of those who are interested in the church will agree that this had better be left off the screens. There is a death bed scene in this film which is fairly good, but is rather too stilted. Nevertheless it is less objectionable than calling the church into the picture. When the new missionary starts for Africa there is no sub-title and the film changes immediately from the interior of the monastery to the African village where the convert acts as a missionary until he is killed in a battle between natives who sought his life and the soldiers. The motion picture world would have been quite as attractive if this film had never been made. – The Moving Picture World, August 7, 1909
