A view behind a curtain
Gordon-1110 April 2017
This documentary film tells the story of the LGBT activism around the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, amidst a background of scrutiny and persecution by the Russian authorities.

I was not quite prepared for the intensity of the story. Though I have read that Russia has been clamping down on LGBT rights, it is another thing to watch it being told by people affected first hand. The local young man's story, Vlad, is particularly convincing and touching. It is also great to see so many Olympic athletes speak up for their rights. The sports world can do with more positive LGBT role models. Though not much has progressed during or after the Sochi Winter Olympics, I hope things will change for the better.
