Lian-Chu is accidentally poisoned by a dragon and the only thing that can cure it is liquid from the gland of the Mimikar, an enormous dragon. Gwizdo is reluctant to save him, because although he cares about Lian-Chu, he's also a coward. Despite this, he takes it upon himself to take Lian-Chu to the island where it lives and, once he actually confronts the creature, finds that saving Lian-Chu won't be so hard. However, there's a small tribe living near the Mimikar who are more dangerous than the beast itself. Furthermore, Gwizdo doesn't want to scare Lian-Chu by telling him he's been poisoned.
This is one of Gwizdo's finest moments. His best friend is in danger and he has no choice but to save the day. He's short on time, too. This shows that when push come to shove, he will put his life on the line for his friends. You could say that the mission is not enough of a physical challenge for him, but he's not very physically strong, and he and Lian-Chu need each other anyway. Furthermore, as he admits himself, he tries his best.
