A Good if not great conclusion.

There is no question this mini series has been a spine chilling masterclass in frights, emotion and supreme acting by all but there is also no doubt neither episode two or this final one could match the outstanding opening instalment and though again the acting is top notch and the frights are still there I was a tad disappointed by the finale as towards the end it verges on silly and annoyed as they could of made a show that went down as a classic if they had kept it like episode one.

Janet and Margaret lie that they made the haunting up to get the investigators out of their home so that Maurice and Guy can return to stop the poltergeist once and for all. After seeming to get rid of poltergeist Joe the Hodgson's try and get their life back on track but days later 11 year old Janet once again gets plagued by supernatural forces and it becomes stronger as Janet is put in hospital. After getting Janet back home Maurice,Guy and the Hodgson's as well as psychic Linda face off with evil one last time but is the forces after the family or Maurice.

As ever the acting in this is on a top scale with Eleanor Worthington-Cox truly sensational as Janet Hodgson and you would never believe this girls age for how good she is already at acting and any actor she appears with she acts them off the screen. She is a funny and warm individual who can also stand up for herself when needed,i also love her scenes with Maurice and their friendship is just lovely and sweet and are two characters you truly care about. Her scenes too when threatened by supernatural forces are very strong and you feel her pain and suffering and it is heartbreaking to watch but proves her talent.

Timothy Spall too is fantastic but this man always is to be fair and this series is just as strong when we are watching about his life grieving over his daughters death who was also called Janet and scenes with him crying in his wife Betty's arms will bring a tear to the eye.As I said before scenes with Hodgson Janet are very sweet and also bring out happier moments as they take a break from the house of evil as they go on a trip and love it when Janet says 'what's wrong with me' and Maurice says plainly 'you just have a poltergeist that's all',its very sweetly done and brings a lighter side to a dark story.

Others like Matthew Macfayden's Guy and Maurice's wife Betty played by top actress Juliet Stevenson are excellent and both get to do more this time and get to show their talent.Margaret played by Fern Deacon is another young talent for the future too and also makes you chuckle.

The frights and exiting moments are a bit on the smaller side this time and to be fair that's OK as the drama is the best thing about this series.Standout scenes without a doubt include poor Janet's hospital stay and it will give you the creeps and break your heart at the same time and Cox is phenomenal in these scenes. The other notable scenes include the exorcism type sequences that though exiting can verge on camp which is strange considering how straight this show is meant to be but one sequence does work wonders as Janet walks round her house after being locked out only to see her doppelganger starring back at her,its chilling and very creepy.

All in all a solid if less stronger finale compared to two much more gripping previous instalments with some scenes verging on silly but its held together by Cox's magnificent performance,Spall's brilliant as ever portrayal, the usual chills and frights and some heart-wrenching emotion that no doubt will break the hardest of hearts.

An excellent story and we need more series like this on television.
