In order to rid themselves of the various investigators disrupting their lives, Janet and Margaret claim that the haunting is a fake before inviting Maurice and Guy back, who attempt to exorcise the spirits from the house for good.

Maurice is dismayed to read in a paper that Janet and Margaret have admitted to faking the haunting but relieved when they explain that they did it to get rid of the unwanted attention of other psychic visitors and to get Maurice to return to them. He gets hold of Joe's ashes and Guy uses them in an attempt to exorcise Janet, which appears to be positive. However some days later and Janet again seems to be taken over by malevolent spirits. Working on Lindy Crane's observation that for Maurice the Hodgsons' house is a house of death Guy realizes that there is only one way to help both Janet and Maurice - and end the Enfield haunting for good.—don @ minifie-1
