No weapons in the waiting room. You got to leave the ax outside.

Warning: Spoilers
The film summary is written as: "A college student (Brian Papson) is injured by a malfunctioning soda machine on Highway 6. His fellow students take him to a doctor (William D. Caldwell) who lives in a basement bomb shelter and awaits the second coming of Elvis Presley. They can't leave, and a killer stalks them with an ax."

The students are looking for an urban legend horror house in order to film ghosts.

Some of the humor is when Joe from Croatia says: "People suspect ghost when it's really a werewolf or vampire." They did manage to create one good character. However, PLOT SPOILER, once they get there is turns into some sort of existential film as the place has "No Exit." The film frequently borrowed from famous authors, song lyrics, and even a few riffs. What is unfortunate is while having all the makings of a cult classic, they couldn't get it together in an entertaining enough fashion. The dialogue was there. Writer Richard Casey wrote a good script that director Richard Casey dropped the ball on.

Guide: f-word. No sex or nudity

Pseudo sequel, thirty years on
Leofwine_draca4 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
HORROR HOUSE ON HIGHWAY 6 is a modern-day indie horror film, shot on video and conceived as a sequel to the equally lame, but better, HORROR HOUSE ON HIGHWAY FIVE which was made thirty-odd years or so ago. The film mixes together diverse elements of horror and comedy as it posits a bunch of dumb characters in a rural house and has them interacting with various oddballs and being stalked by a maniac. It's cheap and dumb, too familiar to really stand out, and all a little pointless.

Well, it's certainly weird...

Warning: Spoilers
Four college students are searching for the horror house and want to prove the reality of ghosts when a possessed soda machine hurts one of them. That brings them to a clinic that is really the horror house.

I think I love the original - love is a strong term, I think - because it may be amateurish, but it looks better on film. This shot on digital video film loses something as the cheese in it is way more evident. It feels more amateurish than the first, if that's even possible.

There's all sorts of weirdness in here, so much so that I can't totally dislike the film. Weird symbols ala Fulci, discussions about multiple versions of reality all happening at once, random characters showing up only to get killed and an ending that approaches - but does not match - the strange close of the original.

I'm glad there's a sequel and I'm pleased that Richard Casey is still making movies. I just wish that they were better than this one. I kind of wish he'd write the script and oversee the film with an actual crew, DP and director, as he definitely has some great themes. He just needs a team to make them happen.

Awful Sequel to an Awful Movie

Horror House on Highway 6 (2014)

1/2 (out of 4)

Four students want to prove that ghosts and hauntings are real so they head out to a mysterious house. Once inside the house they meet a strange doctor who is waiting for the second coming of Elvis and soon the students are being chased around by a maniac and there appears to be no escape.

This here is a somewhat sequel to Richard Casey's HORROR HOUSE ON HIGHWAY FIVE but I personally think it's more in-name than anything else. I wasn't a fan of that slasher movie but at the same time it was so bad that there was just something oddly attractive about it. This film, however, is just plain bad and I must admit that I found it extremely hard to get through.

On a technical level, I guess I'd say that this here looks better than the first film but that's about the only positive thing I'm going to say. Well, I guess you could give the film credit for trying to be something more than just your typical direct-to-video release but at the same time I found the film to be a failure on a number of levels but the biggest was the fact that it was simply boring to the point where you wanted to skip through the entire thing.

I can put up with bad performances or poor effects but when you're watching a film that you can't connect with and that you find to be deadly dull then there's not much entertainment that you're going to get as the viewer. With this sequel I was at least hoping to get some of the craziness of the original film. The story here is nuts and far-fetched but there's just nothing here that holds your attention.

Warning: Spoilers
I usually don't watch the low budget movies but I'm glad I did on this one. Joe Nick's accent and funny grammatical errors, Elmira and Clementine are easy on the eyes, even the guitar and other music made this an entertaining flick.
